We had 13 people I think. A couple Shops players, which was interesting because I haven't seen that in forever and I have cut pretty much all my Shops hate. Apologies if I make any mistakes here.
Round 1: Larry Griswold with BUG Game 1: I bolt his first two Trygons and tear up his mana and get some ridiculous card advantage going and kill him. Game 2: I just wreck him. He never saw his Deathrites either game, and I had pretty nice draws. 1-0
Round 2: Mith with Terra Nova Stax Game 1: He steamrolls me with manlands and a Chalice at 1. Cutting the maindeck Mountain was a bad idea, as this ensures that I can't safely fetch out a red source. I die with a handfull of red cards that could have bought me many turns. Game 2: Even worse. 1-1
Round 3: Mike Solymossy with GushBond Games 1 and 2: I cut him off mana, steal his cards with Vendilion Clique, and counter everything he plays. He almost sneaks out of it one game where he Snapcasters a Vamp for Will, but I have the upkeep Clique to steal it. 2-1
Round 4: John Beste with straight Oath Game 1: He concedes to an extremely abusive Library. Game 2: My Grafdigger's Cage shuts down his Oath, not that he ever found an Orchard, and I go super-long, Jace him out, and kill him with Factories right before I would have decked him with a Standstill. 3-1
Top 4: Jaco with Show and Tell/Rector Game 1: I keep a slow Library hand and he Tinkers for lethal on turn 2 I think. Game 2: He mulls to 5, I Force a Mox Sapphire, and tear him up. Game 3: He mulls to 5, I counter his stuff and blow up lands.
Finals: James? with Terra Nova Stax (same 75 as earlier) Game 1: He locks me out with an insane draw. I die to triple Lodestone (1 Metamorphed), 2 or 3 Mishra's Factories, and Spheres. Game 2: I keep a hand of 5 land and 2 Ingot Chewer, or something similar. I draw the third Chewer but never need more than one. I kill a few things, drop a Clique, and just keep him from killing me before I kill him. My land-heavy hand means I can ignore his Spheres, and blowing up his lands stalls him enough to get the Clique through Game 3: I get a bunch of Islands and my Sapphire, and kill his Revoker that names Sapphire. He Ghost Quarters me and I fetch out my last Island. The game is somewhat in my favor, but then he plays a Sculpting Steel and I Drain it, paying 2 extra. I use the Drain mana to drop Jace, and Jace locks him out while I beat down with Clique.
I win $135 store credit, and spend that plus most of my accumulated credit and a bit of trade-in value on a minty Tabernacle. Good times. My deck was great, but obviously I wouldn't make the changes next time, since it was super-weak against Shops and I pretty much got lucky in the finals.
