Hi,
As a listener of the SMIP pod-cast I had to chuckle when this popped up in the feed http://www.twitch.tv/scglive/b/405522193?t=12h27m40s

I suggest rewatching to see the judges expression in the background. I've rewatched like 5 times and someone just linked me to this as well.

Cheers

That was absolutely glorious. Guess JTMS is not "better than all" anymore.

If you look a bit further in the third game he does the same against this opponent with a BS on the stack and an ancestral vision on 1 counter....

It's too big a tell, though.  "Oh hmm weird my opponent has 2UB available, what on EARTH could they be up to.  You know what, I've never fatesealed before, what's that like"

I think I might rate the Music City Miracle above this, but Osyp's right, this is one of the greatest things to ever happen in Nashville!

I'm not sure if there are any Buffalo Bills fans here, but if so I apologize for linking to that video. That was, if I need remind you, the last time the Buffalo Bills were in the playoffs.

I don't get this. Surely it's just a positive side effect of Notion Thief that it preemptively shuts off your opponents Jace's brainstorming ability. I mean how often do you really have Notion Thief in hand?

It's not going to stick, is all.  How many times do you need Brainstorm to blow up and 1-5 yourself before you just play around it?  Which is most of what Notion Thief is going to see play over.  Look at it, it's a silver bullet - just happens to do a series of things that makes Jace backfire and die.  It gives you the BS cards, forces the Jace player to Plow Under their hand and then hits Jace for 3 to stuff it in the bin.

It'll have corner applications, I'm sure someone will try and snag a Recall or like a random Breakthrough off it or whatever.  It isn't like it's hard to play around a 3/1 for 4 though.  I'm betting someone somewhere has been waiting for this very moment to break out the Lava Darts.  Eventually it'll just settle into something that catches someone off guard once in a while, but most of the time people will just answer Jace with their own Jace and things will settle down.

Poor, poor Justin Uppal.

Still, I'm not sure it fully has a place in Vintage, solely because of its mana cost of 4.  I wouldn't be surprised if BUG started running one somewhere in its 75 coming up, but I don't think many decks would go out of their way to play it.

So now that Wizards changed the rules of the game and Jace can't blow himself up from across the table anymore, it might maybe give Notion Thief +1 usability.  What a weird, weird change to make.  I guess that's... whatever
