I tried to work out a way to make it to this tournament, but it didn't happen. Next time!

Luckily, I can make this one. I will get there in the nick of time with a sweet brew.

Unfortunately, I'm in a similar situation. I thought I was going to be able to make this one, but some stuff came up preventing me from traveling that far. hopefully, next time. With an awesome 93/94 deck in tow. I feel bad that I haven't been able to come out for the last several events in Berkeley. Eudemonia's support of Vintage is much appreciated though. I hope they will continue to host Vintage events. I'm sure I'm not the only one who loves Vintage but just can't make it out all the time due to real life getting in the way.

Unfortunately, I'm in the same boat. I'm on a panel at UCLA tomorrow, but this should be a great event! Whoever goes should get the decklists for posting.

While we only had a turnout of 12 people, this was a fun event. The top 4 was 5 color shops, Pitch Burning Tendrils, Pyromancer Gush, and Dredge. The top 4 split. I got knocked out after I playes against Shops and then Dredge. I guess that's what happens when you throw together a last minute sideboard. Thanks to Eudemonia for supporting Vintage!

Definitely interested in playing some side games with 93/94 decks at the next event! What restricted list do you use for that? The one as of Fall 1994 (so I can play 4 Strip Mine, but only 1 Candelabra of Tawnos)??
Agreed this was a good event despite the low turnout. Glad that everyone is pretty laid back and there to have a good time.
I ran the 5C Stax deck to top 4, list below. It was a lot more fun to play than MUD. Play of the day for me was tapping Gemstone mine, which was my only land, to use its last counter to cast Balance against Michael (BUG Delver), killing his Delver and his 4/5 Tarmogoyf and all of his lands, and causing me to discard one card: Sundering Titan. Then played Welder. Honorable mention for turn 1 Tinker into Sundering Titan after opponent had played 3 duals on his turn 1 with Fastbond...ouch. But that was just dumb luck.
Steven's Dredge deck was pretty brutal. We were each undefeated after 3 rounds and ID'd when we were paired in round 4 but played it out for fun...I didn't stand a chance. I think Dredge is a pretty rare sighting at Eudemonia, something to watch out for.
5C Stax
1 Ancestral Recall 1 Balance 1 Crop Rotation 1 Demonic Tutor 2 Mental Misstep 1 Tinker 1 Vampiric Tutor 4 Goblin Welder 1 Phyrexian Metamorph 1 Sundering Titan 1 Triskelion 4 Chalice of the Void 3 Smokestack 4 Sphere of Resistance 4 Tangle Wire 1 Trinisphere 1 Black Lotus 1 Mana Crypt 1 Mana Vault 1 Mox Emerald 1 Mox Jet 1 Mox Pearl 1 Mox Ruby 1 Mox Sapphire 1 Sol Ring 1 Bazaar of Baghdad 1 Cavern of Souls 4 City of Brass 4 Gemstone Mine 4 Mishra's Workshop 1 Strip Mine 1 Tolarian Academy 4 Wasteland
Sideboard
2 Ancient Grudge 2 Duplicant 4 Leyline of the Void 1 Lightning Greaves 2 Nature's Claim 1 Pithing Needle 2 Red Elemental Blast 1 The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale

Yeah, that was incredibly brutal. To make it worse, I had just bottomed a spell snare off a preordain, thinking I'd rather have a Tarmogoyf than counter a sphere or something!

Dredge guy here (had to register), just wanted to let you guys know that I had a blast. Couldn't have asked for a better first Vintage tournament. I loved your Stax deck eliotd, I'm definitely thinking about running something Workshop based next time.

Glad you all had a fun event! It was a real bummer missing it, but I got 4 extra hours at work, so in a way, I won!

The one as of Fall 1994 (so I can play 4 Strip Mine, but only 1 Candelabra of Tawnos)?? This is the big sticking point with 93/94. I don't think everyone is on the same page about the Banned/Restricted list. The "official" list doesn't sit right with everyone, just as some don't like the actual list at the time. We discussed this a bit at the last Vacaville tournament with B.C., Smmenen, and others, but didn't come to any consensus. We probably need a thread to discuss this amongst those who are interested.

My deck would probably be my BW awesome deck with Circles of Protection, but would include my CHAOS ORB singleton, whether it is restricted or banned. (or unrestricted! I still only own 1 Chaos Orb). The Strip Mine (and Black Vise) are very relevent issues. I'm fine with restricting those cards, as long as CHAOS ORB is unbanned (and restricted). Other than that, Mind Twist? Balance? Also, I'm jonesing for some Vintage. It's been 3 months for me. Gimme more that 2 weeks notice to make my work know...
