What an awesome weekend!  Over 24 people for Vintage (including the Colorado contingent of Team Serious), Breakfast at Northstar, sandwiches punched at dinner, and top 4ing with a deck I put together at 8:00 AM just before driving down to the tourney: Couldn't have asked for more.

@ Anthony. How did the Tabernacle in the main workout for you? Did the leyline/helm combo pull its weight?

I believe I played against it and the Leyline sure shut down my Oath (I was on Burning Long).  I also played like a total n00b and got blown out because of it in the second game.  First game wasn't even a game I just got locked down from turn one (he won the role).

There seemed to be a lot of first timers; some had homebrews.  I personally hadn't been up in two years and it was a great turnout.  I'll be up next month to test my luck again.  It's a great shop and is run well with a lot of great people playing.  It's really awesome to have some Vintage action in my state!

Thanks to everybody who helped run the show and I'll see you next month.

FYI I was the guy who brought his friend that studied on his iPhone the whole time (or played games).  He used to play Magic but doesn't care for the new direction the game has taken since Lorwyn and NWO.  However, I did peak his interest enough to try an app and get his stuff catalogued (he owns lots of cards including a revised set of duals; no other power though besides an original Juzam - if you call that power anymore).  One day I'll get him back in!   Very Happy

Twaun is actually winning events? WTF.

Seriously, I think LHC, Jaco and I need to plan a trip.

I felt the need to unleash the Wu-Sword for my 1st tourney of the year. Plus, I have to make'em count since Twaun P. "Sith Assassin in training" Jr. arrived in late December of 2k13.

But yeah, you guys should come down some time so I can chop up The Salad.

@ Anthony. How did the Tabernacle in the main workout for you? Did the leyline/helm combo pull its weight?

Tabernacle came up in game one vs Burning Oath and allowed me to clear my board of Spirit tokens after I wastelanded my opponents Forbidden Orchards. I also sand bagged it against a creature heavy deck to force a complete tapout under Spheres so I could resolve a Smokestack.

Leyline of the Void and Helm of Obedience allowed me to combo out in two matches. Both in game two's vs an opposing Workshop deck and a Blue Control deck.

I believe I played against it and the Leyline sure shut down my Oath (I was on Burning Long).  I also played like a total n00b and got blown out because of it in the second game.  First game wasn't even a game I just got locked down from turn one (he won the role).

Yeah, that was the Leyline of Sanctity coming in from the board.

The tourney was a blast and I think everyone had fun. The only complaint I heard was when I requested we play out the top 8. Never have I been called so many mean names from the Team Serious peanut gallery..... Things I wouldn't even dare repeat in public. Wink

[EDIT] Be forewarned, this man splits no more.

You're gross as fuck.  And have you ever actually beaten me in a tournament of magical cards?

Why yes... Yes I have.... I believe you responded to my victory with one your famous catch phases..... "You luck sack, I had you crushed if you didn't top-deck your wastelands all those times.", "You played terribly, I can't believe I got dominated by you.", or "Better lucky than good, huh Twaun?"

I don't recall you ever beating me in a tournament.  I recall smashing you... a LOT

We played years ago at one of Eric Becker's many retirement tourney's, an ICBM Open, and Travis Con..... I'm pretty sure I got you at Travis Con and you got me the other two times....... so I guess 2/3 = lots.

I think the most impressive stat on The Salad isn't the +4 bonus in Strength and Constitution, it's the +7 in shit talking Smile

Don't worry, I'll make it a priority to Dominate your silly blue decks next time we battle. Come git sum.
