In the last game of the finals there was definitely some odd and subpar plays made on both sides as far as I saw.

Did anyone catch what the Grixis player DTed for each time?  I am not sure what he got but resolving two of them should really have been game over.  The Oath player, when he drew the second Oath, really shouldn't have Forced back.  He already got a 2 for 1, he can just use the last green and his Pearl to play the second Oath.  Having two Oaths on board is pretty useless.

Hi, i was one of his teammates was in Bom with the oath player.

The reason he forced was the following:

After double Demonic Gwen thought his opponent certainly had at least another counterspell. He was actually playing around force, drain + flusterstorm.
In this case when Gwen forces, and opponent drains, than he can drop his second oath through the flusterstorm.
If he doesn't force there, his opponents possible flusterstorm+drain is live for his second oath.

In the end it wasn't needed.

Although he made during the day some strange plays (and misplays) this was rather a smart play to make in the end of a long day.

That doesn't make much sense. Instead of his opponent draining back he could just flusterstorm back and hold the mana drain.

You're right that in that exact scenario, the Grixis player wins the fight over both Oath's (and probably the match) anyway.

However, by FoWing on the first attempt, you at least give the opponent a chance to mess up. Given the mulligan to five, it's pretty clear that Gwen's all-in here, so making the play that would at least push through Oath in one more scenario, seems pretty decent.

Scenario: opponent has FoW, Drain Flusterstorm. You have 2x Oath, FoW, blue spell.

Given:
- Oath of Druids 1 on the stack
- FoW (opponent) on the stack targeting Oath.

Option 1: let FoW resolve and go for Oath 2 --> Opponent has Drain + Flusterstorm left, so Oath is never going to stick.

Option 2: FoW the FoW. Opponent now has two possibilities:
2a. He Flusterstorms the FoW and has Drain left --> same result as option one (No Oath, no party)
2b. He Mana Drains the FoW (a pretty juicy drain-target, btw) --> your second Oath sticks.

So, just considering this specific scenario (and I'll admit that there are many others, some of which favor FoWing first and some of which don't), the second line is definitely better, since it at least gives your opponent a conceivable chance to screw up.

Have the videos been placed on Youtube yet?

Also, is there a way to view the videos on Apple devices, like an Ipad?  Twitch doesn't seem to have them archived on the Ipad app?  Help would be greatly appreciated.

I can view them here: http://www.twitch.tv/bazaar_of_moxen/b/525801678

But it won't load on my Ipad.

I'm trying to watch these videos to report on them for the So Many Insane Plays podcast.

The twitch TV apps for both Ipad and Android are in need of some serious love.  They are pretty terrible for anything but like streaming, and even then its hit or miss.  As far as I know there are no Youtube uploads.

There are several video tutorials around on youtube for how to rip video content off twitch and download it for viewing on portable devices, so I would look into that.

So by forcing the force, you win if your opponent makes a bad play. You lose if they play correctly or have lightning bolt, red blast, jace, grafdigger's cage, vault + key.

All I was trying to point out, was the reasoning behind den_rudy's (my teammate's) claim considering this specific scenario. While watching the stream on-site, we all had the same reaction you did, and Gwen also admitted after the facts that he shouldn't have FoW'ed to protect the first Oath.

Just like he admitted making some mistakes when we talked through some of his earlier matches (including his match vs UR Delver on stream in round 8) throughout the tournament. He played far from perfect (as few of us do anyway), but he did end up playing well enough / having a strong enough deck to take down the tournament.

And that was just plain awesome Smile.

It's utterly bizarre how the twitch webpage has all of each "users" archived videos visible, but the Ipad/Iphone app doesn't have any of those videos visible.

It makes it impossible to stream any archived material.  Is there a work around or a patch?

As I mentioned, the only work around I know is to use a PC to rip the content from the webpage and download it to the IPAD.

If you don't have a PC or MAC available then you're probably out of luck.

Why can't BOM just archive the videos on YouTube?

I've noticed Mussara (4th place) was playing an Arena in the sideboard. It seems weird to me, I don't see in what matchups it would be good. It doesn't produce mana, requires 3 non-shop mana and a fatty in play to destroy creatures. Sure, it's uncounterable but it seems hard to use efficiently against many creatures such as Tarmogoyf, Vendilion Clique, Scavenging Ooze and Insectile Aberration without losing our own creature.

Wurmcoil says 3 mana deal with any of those. Metal worker means the non shop mana is mostly irrelevant.
