I also think that the pay-for-play structure of MTGO and higher barrier to entry for Vintage specifically *lessens* the tightness of the deck lists. Not everyone who is skilled at this game will have the funds or the desire to drop $1000+ on digital Power.
Power aside, even some sideboard cards are pretty expensive. Ie. Hurkyl's Recall.

You'll spend more for a set of Misdirections and Show and Tells than getting fully powered.  Not to mention Wastelands, Ports, Goyfs or ONS Fetches.

I'm currently balking at the needed Misdirections but will likely break down soon.
