Virulent Plague 2B Enchantment Creature tokens get -2/-2. I guess no one talked about this, but it hits Dredge hard. Or is it too slow? I like that you can play it even after the zombies hit the table. Normal Dredge hate would be too late for that.

Haven't noticed. Illness in the ranks is equally really interesting nowadays and underplayed. How much better is this compared with illness in the ranks or engineered plague? This card is of course better against dredge and talrand, and supposedly worse against the rest. And while it denies dredge's alpha strike with flamekin, it still has some tools to win. Well spotted, though

Nice that it hits dredge pretty hard, but also side effects Mentor and Pyromancer's go wide strategy. Also does some work against Oath of Druids in some decks, trying to give you spirit tokens. That 3 mana cost though.

Hum, didn't think about Oath. Nice.
Yeah, if this costed 2 mana it would be awesome.

Yes, Illness in the ranks already hosed oath, pyromancer, monastery mentor, battlesphere, bitterblossom (lol), Decree of Justice, some elves and goblins shit...
Virulent Plague also hits hard on bridges, swan song and talrand, while skipping misstep.
Other tokens bigger than that are wurmcoil's, precursor golem's, beast within, batterskull.
The question is: are tokens relevant enough to play token's hate over creature's hate? I'm not really sure...

I saw this but didn't think much of it. I can't think of decks that really need this. If they weren't running engineered plague or toxic deluge before, I don't see this as an upgrade.

I meant this card as an specific hate against Dredge. Playing something like 3 Ravenous Traps and 1 Virulent Plague instead of 4 Traps, for example. Or maybe even 2/2.
The fact that it hoses a few other decks too is just a plus. MAYBE you bring this in against Oath (if you're playing Landstill it could be awesome), MAYBE you bring this in against Mentor/Pyromancer. But it's there basically for Dredge, I guess.

I immediately thought this would replace any Illness in the Ranks that people are trying out. It seems versatile enough to be played in sideboards. For example, in the Sultai list I was testing for awhile I would probably play this. Seems better than Engineered Plague for BUG that want Bobs and such.

Why would you play this ove The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale. They seem to have the same goal but one is easier to play and harder to disrupt.

There are 799.99 reasons to play it over Tabernacle. Yeah, I know price isn't usually a concern we care about, but that stupid thing costs more than some Power at this point. That's crossing a line. On top of that, Tabernacle doesn't stop hasty Zombies from killing you in dredge. It also gives Mentor a window to still kill you; if they make 2 monks, they can pay 3 in upkeep to hold on to them and still swing for 7 with only a single additional spell.

Depends for what matchup, but Tabernacle doesn't kill Mentor, they can leave 1-2 tokens alive and still be in the game. Tabernacle doesn't prevent Oath from triggering. Against dredge, it doesn't prevent them from dredging main phase, getting a ton of zombies, reanimating Zealot and killing you.
