I was out of the country the last month or so, and I just got an email saying it was already time for the VSL finals? When was the regular season? Can I get the videos somewhere?

They have a 3 weeks double elimination tournament without Kai Budde. They had to shorten the season for the upcoming Pro Tour and the more popular Super Leagues.

I'm sorry to hear that; the point of the original VSL was to raise the profile of Vintage, because it is less popular and receives nowhere near the massive support WotC gives the other formats... guess a double-elim tourney is better than nothing.

Yeah there are strangely a bunch of other "super" leagues now - in formats that are far from super.  I can't help but feel like this is detracting from the VSL.

I seem to remember at the end of season 2 that there was supposed to be some play-in tournament with Nick Detweiler and Roland Chang and others, did that ever end up happening?

Not yet, but it will.  It has been pushed back.

Yeah it's a shame WotC had to self promote a format that doesn't need or benefit from the promotion and break things up with standard "super" league. Watching 32 rare best bear available decks maul each other is pretty banal. They are also pimping a modern "super" league. Can't wait for draft "super" league where we can be enthralled by Wind Drakes and Goblin Pikers and Giant Growths. Truly super.

I was not impressed with the standard super league at all. I tweeted a sarcastic joke about how standard was finally getting some support from wotc.

VSL, play with power. SSL, sit on it until rotation  Wink

I gave it a shot, but I'm just not the target audience. Hope to draw CitP Tapped lands in correct order, play Rare Best 1 Drop, untap play Rare Best 2 Two Drop, bluff a pump or get lucky and have an untapped land and play Best Rare / Mythic 3 drop. It's like Starter.

I haven't watched last nights matches yet but I look forward to the free entertainment.

vintagesuperleague.com has all of the info.

It was a 3 week abbreviated season this season, and was great fun!
