I realize Elfball has not been a deck in forever, but I think this card makes it completely reasonable to think it could happen:

It's tutorable with Chord of calling and Green sun's zenith. It's life loss (not damage). And it has 3 power so it can trade with lodestones and the like. It can be uncounterable via Cavern. It taps for mana with Heritage Druid.

I can easily see situations happening with this card where you are either casting it for 20 damage or able to cast 2-3 of them in a row on the same turn because of the net positive mana you can make in an elf deck. The deck may need to splash Bayou or even Elves of deep shadow to produce the black mana but that seems like a small price to pay.

Yes!!! This card helps Elves not lose to stuff like Moat effects! Very nice card indeed.

And it can combine nicely with symbiote. However I'm not sold... but it deserves testing, of course. nice uncommon card

This is going to make Intruder Elves in Modern just stupid good now...I guess that evens out the broken Day's Undoing Affinity decks that will be popping up.  Modern is now a kill by turn 3 format - you've all been put on notice.

In Vintage, I can see elves making a splash.  It doesn't even require a second color with caverns, but if you have to add bayou, abrupt decay is a welcome addition to solve the oath problem.

For all its worth they also get this:

Which does not look like much but it makes a turn one cavern into Heratage Druid, turn 2 this a really scary play as you already have the start of the combo.

When Elves started performing in Modern its price jumped.

I can definitely see this card being used in any format Elves is a deck. And Elves can compete in Vintage. This card might help push that even more. I see it more as a 1-or-2-of tutor target. Even if it isn't lethal on its own, this then attack (or vice versa) could easily be lethal.

Theres been a couple of prices that made me do a spit take. Serum Visions is almost up to $15. The number of simple utility commons and uncommons that have skyrocketed lately is astounding.

Elves is a narrow deck, but few people want to play against it in cockatrice. While it's pretty dead against really fast decks because of its null response, it's a very resilient slow combo with nice aggro plan.

Dwynen Elite seems a bad card outside limited and maybe standard. I won't play it over nettle sentinel or visionary, and a misstep on heritage makes this a sad play. While it's still 3 power for 2, and doubles mana with priest of titania or elvish archdruid, or allows slow creation of tokens with symbiote, it does not have any combo, just nice and not really effective effecrs. Shaman of the pack seems more interesting as "finisher", but I don't know how much.
