Hi all...it's Ray...the Waterbury TO.

I have so much to say so let me start at the beginning.

First,...a HUMONGOUS thanks to all 191(!!!!) people who came by to support this tournament.  When you tell me Waterbury rocks...it's because of you guys...it's what you make of it.

Second, a HUMONGOUS thanks to all those who helped me with the tourney.  Jarad Demick and my girlfriend Theresa were invaluable and I can't thank them enough.  We also had four judges who helped handle rules questions: Chris Kitzmiller, Dan Richardson, Jacob Orlove, and Jason LeDuc. Additionally, throughout the day BigChuck(Chuck Perrault), Mike D, Summen Saugen(Ben Kowal), Magimaster(Todd Pantiatis) among others lended a hand.  When you tell me Waterbury rocks...it's because of all these people as well.  If you see them in the future, thank them as well.

Third, a HUMONGOUS thanks to Zherbus and this website.  It is very evident without it, the word of my event would not spread as easily.  Steve, I wish you could have made it down.  With all you have done to build the type one community, you would have appreciated the turnout more then anyone. When you tell me Waterbury rocks...it's because of aTMD and Zherbus's help with his posting of my flyer even when the main site was down.  If you see him, thank him very much.

To sum up...WATERBURY is the combined effort of the type one community as a whole.  My thanks go out to all of you.

NOW FOR MY REPORT:
The tournament weekend started on Friday Morning.  I did not have to work(I am a teacher) because school was canceled due to the cold weather.  I spent the entire day finishing up cleaning my place, and getting last minute things together for the event.  Jarad was the first to come to my place for the pre-waterbury party.  By midnight the party consisted of Me, Theresa, Jarad(WICKETSNATCHER), Ben Kowal(SUMMEN SAUGEN), Adam Bowers(ILL_DAWG), Jason Staples(LEVIAT), Derek Collins(???), Bryce Reynolds(KLOWN), Steve Houdlette(Grand Inquisitor), Chris Kitzmiller(MOOBIUS), Jeffrey Greene, Loren Hotchkinson, Jacob Orlove(JACOB ORLOVE)...much drafting, drinking, laughing, crying, talking, chilling, ____ing, and so on ensued...everyone drunk themself stupid and crashed except myself(I don't drink) and woke up at 8:00 to leave at 8:30. to get to the marriott for 9:00 to eat breakfast buffet(SOOOOOOO MUCH BACON) until 9:30 when I started to set up for the event.

People kept pouring into the place and as usual I found myself setting up extra tables.  We finally reached an astonishing 191 people.  We had to take out another room to fit everyone.  I would like to know however if anyone out there knows...how does this attendance rate with others worldwide as the biggest type one tournament.  Have there been bigger ones in America? How about globally? I heard Spain has bigger ones, but I'm not sure.

Anyway...the tournament amazing kicked off only 40 minutes past 11:00 despite all the craziness.  The day for the most part is a blur but I do remember that we sold through 300+ sodas and 35 pizzas.  I also remember alot of people everywhere.  In the end the prizes were restructured as follows

I would like everyone in the tournament to write a report about their experience whether they came in first or 191st.

The tournament fully finished around 12:00...from there about 20 of us went to Denny's for some late night food.  This group mainly consisted of the people at my party the night before but also included, Carl Winter(Crazy Carl Winter), Steven Mennedain (SMennen) among others

We played type 4(the funnest format ever..ask smennen about it) for about 10 minutes before the psycho hostess that is always there told us that cards were not allowed in the restaurant WTF!!!...anyway...I got home finally around 3:00m am in the morning.  It was a long 48 hours but I wouldn't have changed a minute of it.

In conclusion...I once again urge you all to post some tournament reports to share your experiences...also...please.. .any reccommendation you have for how I can improve my tourneys...please let  me know...no suggestion will go unconsidered.

Thanks Again,

Ray

RIP Mogg Fanatic...at least you are still better than Fire Bowman!!!

I was once asked on MWS, what the highest I ever finished at a TMD Open was.  I replied, "I've never played in a Waterbury.  I was then called "A TOTAL NOOB!"

Oh no! Ray let my secret 5 gibbon tech out of the bag!

Actually, I had Hidden Guerrillas SB.

Also, Ray wasn't the only one not drinking; I didn't either, and I went to sleep early, like Ray. I hear people eventually played Hot Dice; does anyone know what happened to my cool six-siders? They were red, and had white numbers, not dots, on the side. I had a set of three, but now there's only one. :(

Yeah, I wasn't drinking either. I tried to get at least 4 hours of sleep, but freaking people had to be all loud.

Also, Leviat wasn't there.
