I am sure someone here can give me a quick explaination to these questions...

Why do you see some tempest cards that are black bordered or white boardered?  Why do some rares (like Living Death) have a gold colored cloud or a dark colored cloud?  Was there a reprint?

I am trying to sell a bunch of tempest rares on ebay, but I am unsure as to how to label this different tempest rares.

Thanks in advance.

White bordered/gold symbol cards like Living Death are from promotional boxed set type things. For the death, I think it was the Beatdown boxed set, but Anthologies might have some too.

Of all the special promo sets, I think only Anthologies kept the original's expansion symbol. Beatdown had a big mace for its symbol. Antholgies is where we get WB Living Deaths and WB Sacred Mesas.

BB Living Deaths have black Tempest expansion symbols because they didn't start colorizing the expansion symbols until Exodus.

I'm fairly certain the gold rarities were printed with black borders in Battle Royal, but those could be wb, I don't recall.

Battle Royale is entirely white bordered, and has rarity colorations in set symbols. One of the ways of telling (particularly on Air Elemental to differentiate from 5E, as if anyone cares), is that the copyright notice at the bottom is centered and has a range of years (maybe up to 2000? I don't have a BR on hand) even on the ones with no set symbol that would otherwise be difficult to tell from 4E or 5E.

Thanks for the information everyone.  Due to the fact that I will be selling these white-bordered rares with a gold tempest symbol on ebay, I feel that it is mandatory that I can definitly say what set these cards are apart of.  I have been looking on magiclibrary.net to locate the exact set where these cards came from but unfortunatly I just can't seem to locate that exact set.  However, I have looked up Dr. Slyvan's info yet.  Hopefully the battle royale set will shed light on this situation.  The main difficulty is finding a set listing of the cards from Battle Royale.  If anyone has a link to this info I would be most greatful.
