With Long.dec out of the metagame and pure aggro making a resurgence, Type 1 is back to its old turn 2 standard. With that being the case, TnT becomes the standard for aggressive decks, because of its creatures' massive size and ability to pack a wide array of threats. I wrote an earlier piece on this deck intended to introduce it to the community more quickly, but now that the metagame seems stable once again, here is the definitive primer on Vineyard Tools 'n Tubbies.

Interesting deck.  Are you convinced that your deck will fare better than R/G Beatz in most metas?  If so, what do you base your conclusion on? So far, that deck seems strong for budget and has had some impressive results.

Great read.

I love the way you incorporate seemingly sub-par cards into decks, yet are able to make the deck function smoothly around them. Good job.

it seems the key to the tnt matchup would be the welder and the sotf
perhaps lightning greaves in the sideboard would help to save a few of them
i've found mine to be walking lightning rods whenever they resolve, drawing bolts, p.blasts and fires whereever they go

you're right about it not being about to compete with the raw speed of powered tnt
i recently took a shot of turn 1 welder + juggernaut, turn 2 su-chi and it was not pleasant
any ideas how to get around that?
i'm thinking some burn for the welders + more sex monkeys for spot removal

@DaD (This sounds funny)

Well I think that TnT can outdo R/G in most metas.  Because of the of rate at which TnT drops so many fat creatures and must counter bomb spells it wil probably fare a lot better then R/G against the average metagame.  R/G doesn't even have better SB options since they are all the same colors.

Talisman of Impulse... like, umm, sorry, wtf? That's the kind of thing that's always made me skeptical of your decks, even though I know I shouldn't be.

Good read though, that wasn't meant as a flame. You've found a nice middle-ground between Smmenen and JP, not too cerebral nor too laden with paragon related innuendo.

Hey, nice article Shannon.

It seems apparent that you have done alot of testing with your build.  I would be interested to get your opinion on Xantid Swarm here.

Have you tested the bugs in Vineyard TnT?  Xantid Swarm really helps, when power is missing, to get out those bombs against control, especially the critical Blood Moon.

I have tested the Swarms in the sideboard. They're great if you expect TONS of Hulk and Keeper, but they aren't as stellar in other matchups, namely U/r Scepter where they are little more than Fire/Ice targets.

EDIT: If anyone really wants to, I wouldn't mind seeing some discussion on the SCG forums as well. More people read it there.
