Blood Moon vs. Dwarven Miner

As we all know, both these cards are quite good in Type 1. Which should be voted for though?

There isn't going to be enough non-basics to really fuck anyone in Type Screw, unless they reprint the opposing painlands. I don't see them doing that until 9th edition.  Extended would really only change if the Moon was printed. Therefore the Dwarven Miner has my vote.

Vote blood moon to screw up all the multicolor type two decks, which will definatly make the format less popular.

There will only be the Ice Age Pain lands in T2 though. So the decks will more than likely use only 2 colors after the rotation of Invasion Block.

I like the idea of Foil Dwarven Miners.  We don't need foil bloodmoon's because we have Bloodmoon's out of The Dark.

Hopefully this particular vote is an indication that there will be a good number of non-basics in the base set. I might even play type 2 again if the opposing painlands were included.

I thought about posting a thread in the Extended mill, as I figured that the inclusion of either would effect T1.x much more than T2.  However, after thinking about it a bit myself, I decided I would vote for Blood Moon for a few reasons.

I think that Blood Moon is a fabulous card, an underrated and underused card.  Its something new, as opposed to Miner which will be rotating out soon, and its two sided.  I think thats the most important part.  Sure, the symmetry can be broken (and fairly easily), but at least that takes some planning.  Miner's drawbacks are how fast it works and the fact that its a critter, but other than that, its just a mindless little guy.  Blood Moon, especially its inclusion in non-Mono-Red, is, as Milton and others should very well know, a very tricky, but rewarding thing to pull off.

Blood Moon got my vote.  Besides, somebody needs to remember what the -real- best card from The Dark is...

Vote Blood Moon.

In terms of accessability for Type I, it is cheap and easy to get Miners and harder and more expensive to get Blood Moon.

As a bonus it will increase the number of Sligh decks in Type I.
Rakso will be thrilled that his lands are immune to BtB after his opponents play Blood Moon.

Hoser enchantments (blood moon, choke, B2B etc.) are boring IMO, since they provide an absurd game swing once they hit play. Sure, Masticore against a wheenie deck can create a similar effect, but at least most decks have ways to deal with creatures (which is more than you can say about enchantments). So I vote Dwarven miner all the way, and besides...he does have one of the best flavor texts ever written

I think that the Blood Moons have more of a general effect, it hits the table and boom, your hosed.  At least the Miner takes a few turns and some mana to eat your non-basics.
On the other hand, Miners can chump block and swing for damage if they need too.

Type two decks have only a limited number of non-basics, making blood moon non-effective as it provides moderate colour screw only and doesnt stop mana production. For extended, blood moon would work better, but whether multicolour  (3+ colours) is big in extended remains to be seen.

Meanwhile, Miner can have a solid impact as a maindeck/sb card for ponza/LD decks because he does something other than hose non-basics and actually destroys the mana source.

For type two, miner is better. For extended, I'm not sure. But blood moon gets the style points, so the question is what do you care about?

I voted Blood Moon... foil is cool, but I'm really more interested to see what the new art for Blood Moon would look like. (Obviously, they can't use the original, right?)  Another piece of art with a dwarf on it isn't going to be anything special, but I think that someone could come up with something really cool for Blood Moon... not that the original art isn't just cool as hell already, but still...

Maybe the new one could be dressed in the police academy gay biker bar leather with assless chaps looking over his shoulder at you with a thumbs up, or something.

I agree with Schmakt.  I voted for Blood Moon because it needs some new artwook.  Hopefully they get Ron Spencer to do it....that would be pretty damn cool.  \n\n
