Bah-can only list 10 choices. So the sui/tendrils/fish people can just put "other"

I just wanted to make this poll for 2 reasons. To get an accurate (hopefully) description of the metagame, and to help out other TMD members get a description of the meta-because it would be awesome for a TMD member to be the T1 Champ

What deck will you take?

I am probably going to be taking Sligh for 2 reasons. It can be brutally consistant and is the best deck that I can afford
I also have some savage tech for sligh, and its surprise value could be bigger than

Now that GAT is gone there is only one other deck that runs at least 3 copies of Psychatog...

well, I think I'll play TnT, but I will definitely try WW on one of the smaller T1 one events.  WW RULEZ!!!

Cya all there

PS: by the way, I guess most of you already know each other and I know that this might sound like a really lame question, but do you guys have a way to identifying yourselves as members of themanadrain.com? Sorry I'm asking, but because I want to meet the great T1 players and members of the site, and because this is going to be my first Gen Con ever, well I was just wondering.

PS2: What to do to not become overwhelmed by the Gen Con scene?

You could wear a name tag with your manadrain handle on it.  Ordinarily that might seem pretty dorky, but that's really nothing to be embarrased about if you have already committed to nerding it up for 4 days at gen con

I haven't really found it to be too much of a problem.  Usually everyone that is a TMDer at the T1 events I've been to have been quite vocal about it.

wow, the POLL is looking very interesting....

Hulk is the leader with 11
Staks is in second with 7
Stoopid Madness in 3erd with 6

I'm wondering what are the 19 that fall under the OTHER category ( I know 1 will be ICT). Yes ladies and gentlemen, you guys will get to meet Roy Spires aka Random-Miser and his ICT deck, because he claimed last sunday that he is attending GenCon. Well, at least this might actually give us an idea of the meta game. And remember to pack your SB with all Hate cards vs. ICT, cause is the never_to_beaten and best deck ever.

I'm surprised not to see more Keeper decks.

As for myself, I’m betraying Mexican Zoo and just go with TnT.....GO TUBBIES!!!!!

you guys think there will be too much combo decks like Rector Trix and Dragon? Because if they are going flooding the event, I'll play WW.   Wink

I'm going to laugh my ass off when miser ends up going like 6-1.  Anyone that loses to ICT at GenCon is going to be a pariah for the rest of his or her life.

I won't. I'll cry. It would be somewhat fitting though, I wouldn't be surprised if it happens.

There is no way.  There are way too many good people at Gencon for Miser to even go 4-2 with a zero Force of Will control deck.  Trust me, he isn't going to do very well.

Look, bottom line is: Mikey Pustilnik, Mike Long, and Stokinger as well as a cadre of Paragons will fuck him up before he gets to the final rounds.

Well, I do agree with you Smmenen, but he is determined to even finish Top 4, because he is convinced that the TOP 4 decks from the T1 Championship at GENCON are going to be printed in a Collector's Championship decks and wants to see his ICT as one of them. SO WE NEED TO STOP HIM.   Wink

If they actually make gold-bordered Championship decks of the GenCon Top4, i will be extremely happy. Finally, some nice proxies to play with, that are the same thickness as the normal cards.

Yes, i know that i can make very real looking proxies myself, but that takes time and effort, and i rather just drop 50 bucks and save a few days worth of work.

I'd rather spend 50 dollars on real cards.  That way you can actually use them for something tangible instead of fooling around.

@Rico

50 dollars on real cards will get me what? One Mana Drain? Thats pretty useless on its own, except as trade fodder. However, 4 decks worth of high quality proxies will provide me with all the proxies i will ever need, plus cards i can play with against my friends, which is where i do most of my playing anyway.

Its all about perspective. For a strict tourney player, i guess theres no point to buying those, but i know a lot of ppl who would jump at the chance.\n\n

by the way, what is a Shining/YM deck?

Maybe.  But if my play-group let me play with proxies, I'm the kind of person who would print them out and save time/money, so we disagree from the start.

I figure 50 dollars goes a long way.  You gotta start somewhere.

A Shining/YM deck is a Keeper-based deck that tries to go off with Future Sight (so, no Morphling).  It uses Fastbond and other things to prevent stalling off Sight, and it uses Burning Wish as opposed to Cunning Wish to fetch Sorcery kills.

Re: $50 to spend on proxies, real cards, or women.

OFF TOPIC.

Re: What's a Shining/YM deck?

Use the search function. For principle alone, I am not going to spend time explaining how it works, but instead will focus my time preaching the usefulness of the search function and pointing out the various ways it could save you and I time.

Re: Rndm-Misr.

Why give him any attention at all, leave it alone.
