I thought Avalanche Riders sounded like the best idea here (especially for synergy with Smokestack) although that does make it a little mana-intensive.

Now we can go back to Magic's roots and play the 40 Kird Ape deck.

Seriously, I think this card might just remake TnT (into something that can handle the metagame).  I can see the Survival Engine, along with Welders, being some good with this.  It would, of course, dramatically change the creature base if it was to be abused.

I disagree...this seems to be a win more card. It is not a creature so it is something that must be run in multiples and when you are at the point where you can start survivaling you already have 4 copies of every card you need...past a certain point more of those creatures are unnessessary. It is introducing a fairly clunky utility to the deck that is just not needed. For the most part I would focus on creatures to be inserting into TnT. Wizards can't resist printing fatties and with 142 artifacts in the set I am liking the odds...something has to be good. I already have two potential candidates and we only have seen a small fraction of the cards.

How about Ravenous Rats?

"During your draw, before your main... discard that shit."

Never. Draw. Again.
