Here are the pairings for the first round. This round will end at 11:59 PM on Sun Aug 4.

When reporting results, please have both players send me a mail (that's misunderstoodprophet@hotmail.com) with the exact subject header "ToC6 Round 1 Results".  Sending to a different address or with a different heading could make me angry, and...well, you wouldn't like me when I'm angry.

I encourage all players to give us a report of their matches.

These rounds are too long.  Shorten them to a week, please...

I totally agree Pegasus, if people can't play 1 little match a week then they shouldn't of signed up for the tournament.

Please change this to a week.  It just takes way too long to play these if you run it out too much longer.  Also it kinda sux for the people that might have possibly missed it and then have to wait a whole 3 months for the next TOC to take place.

This has already been debated. Yes, it sucks to have rounds take so long. Yes, it sucks if you missed the signup.

It also sucks when have the matchups are match wins or byes because people can't get the game in.

Welcome to an international tourney.  You don't just need  enough time to play a match, you need enough time at a point in time where your opponent has that much time too. Some of us work, and there are people from all manner of different time zones here.

Also, in a tournament on this range of schedule, it is natural that there will be unseen/planned absences. For example, my round 1 opponent is gone until Tuesday. If we had 'shortened it a week' , he might have auto-lost.

For people seeking instant gratification, there are always minis, but you can't have an ongoing international tourney of this nature without a fair amount of time to complete the rounds.

Still, the rounds need to be shorten to a week. Otherwise people will become bored, stop checking, and drop like previous times

I must say that I am looking forward to the matchups for ToC6 Round 2.

Reminder: Round 1 closes today at midnight.

To Often Lost re:your suggestion to shorten the matchup-result-deadline to a week from the ten days it is now.  Your suggestions were welcome before the tourney started ten days ago.  But, it is too late now; please refrain from bitching about 'How things ought to be.'  The tourney is on and the format methodology is now set in stone.  If you are right and some people do drop because they are bored I am only saddened by their lack of resolve and honesty with themselves about their commitment.  Nevyn's observations on the difficulties of participating in, and running an international online tourney, were right on.

Everyone, I am enjoying the competition and your reports very much so far.
