Hi all, this is my first report of an online tournament since it is the first time I play in the ToC.
Please pardon my English mistakes, I will try to show you my best grammar.

I decided to play in the ToC a monored stacker-like deck and my first opponent, Michael Farmakis aka micfarm from Athens, labelled his deck "Millionsofsquirrels.dec"...needless to say, when I saw the turn 1 pairings I immediately realised it had to be a very hard match for me (for the decklists we played please check the topic in the "online Tournaments" page on this site).

Game 1. As I feared, I lost miserably, maybe turn 4 or 5. I have not maindeck solutions against combo decks so it wasn't a surprise for me to bite the dust. I tried to cast two first turn Cursed Scroll and an early Juggernaut but my pressure was overcome by tons of squirrels...0-1. Well, it's time for sideboarding.

Game 2. I put in 4 Jester's Cap, 4 REB, 4 Pyroblast, and 2 Shaman, in the place of the 12 burn spells (useless) and the 2 Masticore (useless too, I think). My starting hand looked great, with 2 Jester's Cap and 1 Welder, plus mana acceleration, 1 Workshop and 1 REB.
I waited the second turn to cast the Cap, so I was able to protect it with a REB against his FoW. In the third turn I activated the Jester removing 3 Squirrels Nest from his deck, and I was able to cast the Welder. In the two following turns I used the Jester's Cap twice, via Welder's recursion, removing the other pieces of the combo left in the library: 1-1.
I must admit I was lucky with my starting hand and with the fact he did play only one counter. Moreover, in the last turn I had in my hand only a Wheel of Fortune, and I decided to cast it to get some artifacts to feed the Welder with. I wanted to use the Jester soon, since he had cast a Squirrels Nest and one single Earthcraft was still in his library. I got a Su-Chi, and he didn't get a counter, and the game ended at that point.

Game 3. I made the same changes, and this time we reached turn 5 or 6 without doing quite anything. Then I drew a Jester's Cap, and I cast it. He answered with FoW, so I played the REB, but he had another counter (Misdirection). The Jester's Cap went in the graveyard, but I was able to cast a Cursed Scroll. That proved to be the key move of the match: as a matter of fact in the following turn I draw another Jester's Cap, and the turn later the Scroll allowed me to tap my Tolarian for 2 activating the Jester. Since he had 2 Squirrels Nest in his hand I removed 3 Earthcraft, and a few turns later I removed the other Earthcraft thank to a Welder. 2-1. Game for me.
Like in the previous match I was a little lucky, since he got mana screwed, and the 2 Wasteland I drew made the rest.

Anyway I won a game I didn't really believe to win. But that's Magic, and I was a little lucky.

Nice report and whew, I'm glad you beat Squirrels because I cannot!

A quick question about this play:

What was he Misdirecting your Red Elemental Blast onto?  The Misdirection?  Does this spell-stack actually lead to a successful countering of the Cap?

Yes, it works.
Stack: (oldest to newest)
Cap
Force
REB
MisD

Misdirection resolves, changing the target of REB from Force to MisD. Then the MisD is removed from the stack and placed in the graveyard. Then the REB fizzles (countered upon resolution due to lack of target) because its target is no longer there. Then the Force counters the Cap.

Oh, and thanks for taking out a combo deck - makes it that much easier for me!
