The proxys of course must be used in opaque sleeves (which means solid, non-seethru sleeves). |

Ok to my knowledge, these are the best prizes that have been offered, in the tri-state area, in the last two years. In a time when support for T1 is so needed, I would imagine that all of you, who can make it to this torny, should be here. Understandably some of you will not be able to get the time off or make your way into the wilds of New Jersey in time. I would think, that the lure of the cards being put up would more than make the trip worthwhile. I am calling on the area’s T1 community to unite for this event and urging those of you from NGNY to try and make the trip. In doing my part to gather people to the game, I will offer Dave Kaplan and JP Meyer rides home.
I am also asking anyone in the know, to help me contact Wizards for support of some kind. If we can make this a huge event and create some excitement about our format, perhaps we can cause a trend to develop. With the current situation, and Maro’s spark of attention about T1, perhaps it is time to turn as many heads towards T1 events, and ourselves, as possible. Once again, any suggestions on actions that might be taken would be helpful. Also, any of you who are planning on coming should pre-register as soon as possible, so we can dazzle them with the numbers, as well as how far people are planning to come from.
Any information regarding the specifics of the rules about the proxies and such, would be better posed to the store owners, either by phone or on the web. Questions regarding: directions, both to and fro, meta-game concerns, available trading or whatever can be directed to me, either through this post or from my links below.
Hope to see as many of you there as possible. Let’s make some noise.

Why is it that there's so many tournaments help during week days? I mean, how is someone with a job living more than a few minutes from the place supposed to go to that event?
With 20 players, you'll get 5 rounds of swiss (if they use standard DCI tournament structure), so it won't be over before 1 or 2 in the morning).

I agree with Sick_Boy, if you want to make this a huge event you should've scheduled it on a weekend. I am probably an hour or so away and am still doubtful to show since I will have to be at work by 8 the next morning.
I will try to get the day off but who knows. Incase I can make it what are the most common decks played at these events.

Ick I just realized school will have started =(. I now doubt I can go since It starts so late on a Thursday night. I live an hour away so I won't be home til 3ish and have to be up at 6am for school! This is impossible =(. Make it start at 4 or 5 or a weekend and it would be much better.

I was just talking to Jay, the guy that owns the store and he told me that he is going to change the date of the game to a Saturday. I believe the 21st and it should start earlier than 7:pm. Hope that makes it better for those of you that are planning to come from father away. My offer of a ride still stands to Dave and JP. Hopefully Jay will get around to posting the new date/time today.......hint hint.

Molot, I want to thank you for asking everyone to come down and try to show the world the greatness of T1. Until now, I had only told my closer friends about this event because I did not want even more competition against me. You are right though about us needing to do what we have to do for our beloved format. I will make sure to tell all the players I compete with at NGNY, friend or foe about this event in NJ.
I am very happy to hear that it will be moved to Saterday!
I strongly believe this will greatly add support for this tournamnet.

LambChopNYC no offense, but normally someone who plays a "tight game" knows what happens when you mana drain a misdirection.... and dosen't mana burn with a morph in play... like i said, no offense..... i haven't even played against you, and you seem like an ok guy. i'm trying to make the tourney... but i think the new date is my teams first soccer game... not exactly something i can miss, i gotta double check though. grrr gotta get my daily rakso... |

We currently have 10 Pre-Registers and I see getting 20 easy. I encourrage you all not to wait till the last Pre-Reg date of September 5th as we might have the tournament filled by then.

Is there a cap on how many players will be allowed to compete?
For me, the price to get there is more expensive than paying the late fee day of the show. I was just planning to pay that late fee when I arrive. You need to let us know what the cap number is. I understand that the store is a finite space. Let us know if space will run out with pre regs.
If you want pre regs, could those of us without credit card accesss send a postal money order instead?

Right now I am setting the limit at 32 People.
That can change if we get 50-60 People that want to play.

I ask, because the Binghamton crew may mobilize once again for a tournament of this magnitude and prize support...

Fairlawn, NJ is right next to Paramus, NJ. We are also about 20 Minutes from the George Washington Bridge.
We are exit 160 off the Garden State Parkway or about 10 Minutes away from Highway 287.

I'm am just a rules stickler, if not more, than Ray. Just because we punish people who don't follow the rules doesn't mean we never mess up ourselves, or even know every rule! I mean it's impossible to never mess up. I mean one time at the 1-0 table of a casual (but 8k sanctioned) T1 on a friday at NG I played against Ray and he couldn't find his 15th SB card. Now I know that he had absolutely no intention of cheating and he hadn't presented his deck so he just added the card he was pretty sure was missing back in. No big deal. I ended up winning on the strength of wastelands, but than in the finals against Steve Sadin I presented my T2 deck by accident! Rules enforcement level has a lot to do with the casuality of my play style. I think everyone should just backoff and learn to accept different approaches to the game.\n\n

I think I can get that money order in the mail soon than. I already have the address from this post.
I will be heading over from Upper Manhattan and will be happy to meet people at the George Washington Bridge Bus Terminal the day of the event and help people get there. I have done it twice from the GWB already. I also did it from lower Manhattan making a stop in Hoboken NJ on the way.
On rules enforcement, I think the prize up for grabs is a big part. I don't hasitate to call out something if I think it is fishy but in the BIG shows I take it even more serious.

Wow...I didn't notice the pre-registration thing.
We up in Binghamton were kicking around the idea of showing up, but I'm a little skeptical about the pre-registration as we're not quite sure what's going on yet.
Just keep updating the post, we may show up with a caravan of peeps to take your Lotus and Timewalk away from you.

About the rules enforcement thing: If the entry fee is over $5, I expect my opponents to turn their cards the full 90 degrees and I expect my opponents to call me on it if I don't. I don't even understand why anyone would want their opponent to allow them to play sloppily except for the prize factor, but if someone doesn't play at 100%, then they don't deserve to win. Where's the honor? However, simple mistakes like the example given by Dave above are totally understandable.\n\n
