I just got done talking with Jason down at Dreamer's.
The next Type 1 will be for a Beta Mox Jet (played condition, but hey, it's black-bordered baby!).
Sunday - October 20 - 1:00pm
P.S. - Does anyone in the Mpls area feel like trading some Moxes? I just picked up 2 more Unlimited Jets and would like to trade them for an Unlimited Pearl and Emerald.

Damn Tradewind Survival deck.
Beat that deck and beat sligh and you should win the tournament.

Trade-Survival? Is that Ben's deck? If it is, he rolled me good.
Milton, did you make it to the finals of the last T1? I couldn't stay so I don't know who won.

Yeah, Ben won. He pulled three Survivals in the first five or six turns with Force of Will back-up. How can you beat that?
He had luck like that all day. He was pulling cards off the top of his deck like a mad man. To be fair, he has a very, very good deck that fares very well against the metagame. Keeper sure as hell can't beat Tradewind Survival.
I missed finals. I got beat by Ben and Sligh in the prelims. I shored-up my deck to handle Sligh and I simplified my deck against Survival.

Hmmm, beaten by Sligh in the prelims?
I beat a Keeperish deck with my Sligh when I was down last.
You wouldn't happen to have nightmares about Chain Lightning and Fork while underneath a Chill would ya?

I lost to the Survival deck in the Final match. You'd think a First turn Planar Void would pretty much shut down the Survival deck, right? Not if you don't even have to search for the creatures you need, but instead draw them from the top of your deck.
$40 in store credit isn't too bad for second, but I would have MUCH rather had the Sapphire (obviously).
I should be able to make it to the tournament on the 20th. Milton, are you going? $10, right?

With an aggro deck (TnT), however, it's a lot different. I beat the same sligh and tradewind decks that you lost to in the swiss rounds. Sligh has a big problem with Triskelion and Bottle Gnomes. The tradewind deck had no answer for first-turn Juggernaut. Wall of Roots just isn't going to plug up the ground attack with that coming. I got knocked out in the round of 8 to mono-blue in a 2-1 match. I felt really good about beating the rest of the top-8, but it wasn't meant to be that day. -- Jim

It looked mostly U and G with a splash of white (most notably a Worship).
Some counters, some card-drawing. Green looked mostly for creatures (Wall of Roots, Quirion Ranger I think, and I know at least 1 Deranged Hermit).
Also had at least 1 Tradewind.

He played a thrid turn Survival, which I Drained. He then played a fourth turn Survival, which I had no answer for. That's too much. Ben was on fire with that deck. He was unstoppable. Hell, he won the tournament. I sure am glad you crushed him in the prelims, though. It would have been nice to see you win the whole thing. I would love to run mono-black suicide or something, but there is just too much sligh to make it work. Next month, something different for me, though. That's for sure.

Dreamer's St. Louis Park, MN (Twin Cities area)
Jason is the main guy there (and store owner if i remember right).
He holds 1 T1 a month for one of the P9.
If the turn out is good enough he'll start doing Beta stuff instead of Unlimited (like the one coming up for a Beta Jet).
I tried running Sui a few months ago. I just think there is too much aggro and not just Sligh (heck, I was one of the 2 Sligh decks I saw last time).
If you want a pre-built Sui though, mine is fired up and ready to go. Plus, it can easily be transformed to a Void deck if I can ever find a 3rd Void.

I played and beat Ben's Tradewind deck several months ago in a Dreamer's tournament (although it sounds like he's made some changes since then). He about cried when he saw what sideboarded Cursed Totem's do.
The Dreamer's tournaments are fun, I hope to make the next one.

The Orangutan does, but anytime the Totem's on the table is real bad for that deck. I was playing a Zooish deck and was able to get in a fair amount of damage when he couldn't do as many tricks.
Also, I think I was pretty fortunate and he didn't have real good draws against me.

Mainly aggro of sorts.
A few control decks.
Some Survival, TnT, Welder types.
Usually only 1 or 2 combo decks.
Top 8 is usually a mix of quality decks.
In other words, be prepared for anything.
Me, i'll probably be running my newest creation which will probably lose, but i've finally gotten my damn Spirit of the Night (btw, I have 2 more in the trade binder too, woot!)

I wasn't able to make it, so someone's going to have to fill me in on what happened. Who won, made top 8, decks they were using, etc.
Thanks

Since October 20 hasn't happened yet, it'd be hard to give you top-8 deck lists.

Last reminder that the tourney is this coming up Sunday. 1pm start time I believe.
Btw, i'll be looking to unload 2 Unlimted Mox Jets (preferably for a Pearl and an Emerald if possible).

Well, the tournament has come and gone. Unfortunately I did not do well. I went 1-2 and dropped after the 3rd round.
After doing a little trading before the tourney started and hearing about all the blue that was being played I decided to try and run my Nether Void deck. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to tune the sideboard before we started so I know that was going to hurt me.
Here's a brief synopsis:
Round 1 - Nick G. playing Urphidian
In game 1 we play back and forth a little while with neither gaing the upper hand. Pretty soon it's mid-game with both us topdecking. I play a Void and hope for the best. He recovers faster than I do.
Game 2 opens much better as I Duress his Ancestral Recall. I keep his hand down as a couple Mishra's take him.
Both us us mulligan to 6 (he went first) and I keep a risky hand as I have 5 'BB' casting spells and 1 Swamp. I do not see another Swamp until after he has Morphling on the board and I cannot fight back.
Round 2 - David L. playing 5 color Survival with Recurring Nightmare and at least 1 Living Death.
Game 1 is mine as I smash him hard and fast. So fast I think he only got to play a few cards.
Game 2 is his as he gets Survival-Squee going and was able to grab whatever he needed when he needed it.
Game 3 I get another fast start. I remember I Consulted for a Hippie and Yawgmothed a ton of stuff back later.
Round 3 - Steven P playing R/G (Kird Ape, Mox Monkey, River Boa, Blurred Mongoose, Burn, and Hull Breach).
Game 1 is his as he burns everything threat I play and watch his creatures swarm me. I try for a Keg which is promtly Breached.
Game 2 shows us both with a slow start and slow mid-game as I see from my notes I took 8 damage from a Mox Monkey.
Anyhow, I was a little disappointed seeing as the day before I took 1st place at SaintsCon in the T1 (only 10 people) and had built some confidence in the deck.
I did not stay for the Top 8 at Dreamer's so I don't know who won the Jet. I believe there were 26 people and it went 4 rounds with Top 8 finish.
Here's what I spotted for the metagame:
1 TnT (made top 8 i believe, congrats jdl) 1 Keeper w/Blood Moons in the side (i think he made top 8 also) 2+ Sligh (at least 2 that I know of) 2 Nether Void (mine and 1 other, but the other had some weird stuff going on as I remember seeing a Phyrexian Dreadnought in his hand) 1 Parfait There was at least 6 Mono-U decks excluding a Trix and the Urphidian, so make that something like 8+ major blue decks. 1 Turboland (at least I think it was T-Land)
And then at the 5C Survival and the R/G I played against.
