Ok, I soo dropped keeper when I saw the power of type one mono blue

I so am not calling it BSB (britney spears boobs)Only Rakso calls it BSB (or as Zvi You mean Azhrei called it, Blue Bull shit) because I hate that name

and britney spears, despite how hot and sexy she is, I dont want her name in this deck (http://images.allposters.com/images/54/039_44183_a.jpg )

I call my deck:

OPHIDIAN 0wnz YOU!

Ok
this weekend at the pre release, after going 4-1, getting 10 packs, I decided to look for type one games
Back to Basics+ophidian=0wnage

Game one: suicide
Ok, b2b didnt own here, but  whatever. I cunning wished for psy. blast, killed negators, Phid did some magic and I owned this guy. Masticore owned him

Game 2: same guy
I walked again

Game 3: Turn one, ritual, ritual, hymn to tourach.
Misdirect it
He held onto another hymn.
I had another middirection

LOL

3 turns later, I had ophidian

Game 4: keeper
back and forth a while, but I layed b2b, mana shorted him, and he was screwed

at one point, he had abyss out, I THOUGHT I WOULD LOOSE
Then, I resolved braingeyser on him, and he decked when I ancestraled him, Time walked, untapped all to prepare for anything he had, and won

Game 5: same d00d

He wanted to play again, no SB though

I went, Lotus, sapphire, island, b2b

Him: fow
Me: Mana drain
Him: Sigh

next turn, with mana drain mana, ophidian and island with counterspell

him: frown

I won
he didnt have a SB built, and i suggested, red blast, and aura fracture

game 6: guy playing 5 color

ophidian on turn one sucks for 5 color players apparently
I won easily

Game 7: same guy (this is a good friend, i let him have an extra draw phase even)

ophidian hit on turn 5 with counter backup

I dropped superman 2 turns later, and walked

game 8: sligh

close as fuck. I am at 7, he casts ball lightning. I allow. I have cunning wish, mis-d in hand and 2 counters. He casts lightning bolt, mis-d to ball

i catch a break!
Mise off the top, fof!
I manage to cunning wish at a percise time, and mis-d a karvek's torch for 12. I had only 1 card in hand, he chansed it, I hardcasted mis-d with the 2 mana backup.

whohoo!

next day, 8 more games, all 8 games b2b owned

OH YEA
OPHIDIAN IS MY FAVORITE NEW CARD! THIS CARD IS SOO AMAZING!

anyway, here's the deck

Do you mean 'lose'?

It loses to a smart mono black player who realizes you dont hymn without baiting it with a sinkhole or using a duress. Once something not easily kegged hits the board (hypno or negator) then mono blue races to build counters on a keg while getting some severe damage done to it.

It can lose to a smart sligh player who doesnt a) run ball lightning, or b) cast ball lightning then bolt first.

It loses to a turn 1 Juggernaut it cant counter, It loses to an active goblin welder, it loses to survival/squee.

Oh, and a Keeper player, while under the gun facing a B2B can win a preboard game by being plain broken. Resolving things like abyss for the phids to not work, sylvan library, and yawgmoths will. Game 2 is all about aura fracture, once that hits the board B2B wont be a problem and the mono-blue player will have to rely on playing ability.

It can lose to some deck packing enchantress's, choke, and city of solitude.

I'm not saying Mono-blue isnt a good deck, I just had to make you see how it can lose since you did ask.

anyway, thanks Zherbus

first off, i see LOTS of people calling it that (bsb)

possible posers?? **shrug**  whoa, thats tight! yay ninja!

just so everyone knows, those 8 matches the next day were as follows:

rd 1: dream halls
rd 2: sligh
rd 3: academy
rd 4: zoo
rd 5: zoo
rd 6: mirror
rd 7: cant remember, someone never seen before. made a lot of play mistakes, and i kicked his ass because of it
rd 8: oath

yea, i see it looses, but in playtesting in real life (i actually played agaisnt sharazad sligh) and on apprentice, I haven't lost hardly at all (sorry if sounding cocky as fuck)

anyway, any ideas on the deck?

Now thats funny.  That's the best parody of one of those dumbass, incoherent kiddie reports I've ever seen.  The only thing is that it should be

OpHiDIan 0wnZorZ U!

It looses to Mishra's Factories.  Even with Back to Basics, a Factoy and a Mox can stall an Ophidian, and stall your card drawing ability.

Also, Ophidian forces you to counter Bolts and Chains and Incinterates and Edicts and Plows in order for you to keep your card drawing mechanism around.  And, this can be tough sometimes.

I find that is often the point -- my opponent plays a Kird Ape or a Jackel Pup - I play Phid to draw out their burn so that I can Misdirect to act as spot removal for me.  To many of the aggro environments I play in, I go in with three maindeck misdirections becuase of sligh, zoo, and Suey.
