Back in Black...

Winning @ Crazy Card and Comics

After running late I call the shop hoping the Turny didn't start yet. And so I'm off, I race to the shop With the deck I readied 2 nights ago. The deck list.....

//Mess you up
4 Duress
4 Sinkhole
4 hymn to Tourach
3 Nether Void

//Beats
4 Hyponic Spector
4 Nantuko Shade

//Restricted for a Reason
R Necro
R Vamp
R Demonic Tutor
R Yawgmoth's Will

4 Kegs

//"lands"
14 Swamps
4 Wastelands
R Strip Mine
4 Factorys
4 Dark Ritual
R Sol Ring
R Black Lotus
R Mox Jet

SideBoard:
2 Contagion
3 Masticore
2 Diabolic Edict
3 Planar Void
1 Dystopia
2 Braids, Cabal Minion
2 Defense Grid

This is just about a standard build of a void deck.

I added the Vamp because I don't like the damage the Demonic Consultation can do. I love the Braids they are good vs. a lot of match ups

The decks that were there were....
1 Void (Me)
2 FeB
1 Dark keeper
1 Keeper
2 Gobsligh
1 Tntmask
2 Gro
1 reanimator
1 ElfCraft
1 W/G Oath
1 5CTrix
1 Enchanterss
1 PandaBurst
Total: 16 people

Round 1
Vs G/W Oath
Game1-Easy Win
Game2-See game1

Round 2
Vs Gob Sligh
Game1-Win a Close Game
Game2-Lose this one
Game3-Win easly with Turn 1 Void

Round3
Vs A-Gro
Game1-Lose Long game. Very close, well played on both sides
Game2-My opp Goes Crazy and keeps a 1 land hand that I sinkhole then lay a Void and win.
Game3-I lose after mulliganing 3 times

Round4
Vs Renamator (This is a match Void has problems with)
Game1-Lose to some fatty
Game2-Win with Planar Void
Game3-He keep a bad hand and I win easily

Top4
Round5
Vs GobSligh
Game1-Win Back and forth I pull this one out in the end.
Game2-Win I drop a early Void and ride to victory

Round6
Vs A-Gro
Game1-Goes back and forth for about 20-25 mins very close game, I pull this one out in the end
Game2-Turn one Void kills Gro

That is it I walk away with 64$

Test well, Play well, Win well, Lose well.

One correction needs to be made. In top 4 you beat me the first game, but I beat you the second game very quickly in like 4 turns and then you beat me the third with a stupid first turn Void.

Congratulations on your win! Im just a bit curious as to how your sideboard treated you. Maybe you could include some information on what came in and what came out in each of your matchups. This might get you some more people to post under your report. If I see some more replies, Ill be glad to talk more. But for now I have to go.

See ya!

Im curious as well. The one thing that stood out as a metagame call was the Planar Voids. The rest seemed a little...off. I dont know the meta (other than you guys all say graveyard hate is good), but I think that the simple fact that you run Vamp over consult speaks volume on what you made the SB the way you did.

The 4 slots I question mainly are the Braids and the Grids.

1) Why Braids? You often need your own mana desparately. You say is was good in alot of matchups, which ones? I can't see them being useful in against any major archtype. In my testing they sucked against anything with burn, disruption, or a bum load of fast permanents.

2) Defense Grids? Your deck is about as anti-control as it can get without adding retarded hate cards. Why the anti counter measure? Fear of Misdirections?

The reason i put this in is where the distopia would go. I didnt have any Distopia. Also i wanted to test Braids vs alot of decks and see how well it really did. Also some times i see Zoos i like Braids in this match up where the Voids are. IE Blureded mongoose. But over all Very suB-Par
