so the pro tour came to my home town, of course i was going to be there. and even better, they were having a type 1 tournament, which woulf finaly give me a chance to get a vintage rating. the deck i played is as follows:

-morphling sux-
4 standstill
4 accumulated knowledge
4 mana drain
4 FoW
4 counterspell
4 powder keg
1 nevinyrals disk
3 nether spirit
3 forbid
2 misdirection
1 capsize
1 ancestral recall
1 library of alexandria
1 strip mine
2 wasteland
4 mishras factory
4 faerie conclave
13 islands

i dont remember the sideboard exactly but i had 2 morphlings, another misdierection and capsize, some gainsays and propagandas, and an extra disk or so.

a brief word about the deck:
the strategy with this deck is to counter stuff until you get standstill out and then you attack with the land or nether spirits. its a very synergistic deck.

so heres how it went:

round 1: RW Enduring Bombardment

ok there are so many better combos, and this guy wasnt using blue or abeyance. do i really need to explain how i countered everything? i didnt think so. i win 2-0.

round 2: "White Weenie"

i use quote because he was using cards like tunra wolves, master decoy, and veteran infantry. these games were much closer than they should have been, as i never drew any of my kegs. but he was a bad player and would forget about my factorys turning into creatures to block his attack. several times he had board position , but would squander it away. it was in this match i lost my only game of the tourney. i win 2-1

round 3: Turboland

so this guy was playing next to me during the last match, and i heard him say he wasnt using force of will, only mana drains. i almost laughed out loud, but i didnt. anyways game 1 he plays first turn fast bond and i dont have a counter. he gushes a few times and goes down to 12, but never finds a horn of greed. after he stalls, it doesnt take long for the man lands to move in for the kill. game 2 was similar, except he never even started to go off. i had 4 times the counters he did, it wasnt even fair. i win 2-0.

at this point, my friend and i are both 3-0 with very similar decks. his is the same except without the drains and the power. he also has alot of it in foil. we thought we were to play each other next, but it wasnt to be.

round 4: Living Death

this was a humorous matchup, as the kid seemed impressed i actually had an ancestral recall. anyways, i just countered his living deaths. he didnt have much else. i win 2-0.

round 5: Nether-go Landstill

so now i get to play my friend to see who gets first, because for some reason there wasnt going to be a top anything. i offer to ID and split the prize, but my friend did not want to. i dont know why. regardless, game 1 is about me having a library and him not. game 2 was about me topdecking ancestral after we both emptied our hands in a counter war. so it pays to have power.

i recieved half a box for first place, only 20 people were in the tournament. i was very disappointed at the low quality of the decks there. the only good decks, or properly built decks, were 2 british people playing parfait that didnt seem to quite understang it. i was happy they lost early on because i hate playing against parfait.

so theres my deck and report. tell me what you think of the deck. if i was going to play again, i would make a few changes like:
-4 island
+4 undeground sea
-1 nether spirit
+1 Fact or Fiction
and maybe add a mystical tutor in there somewhere. if you have any questions, ask me ive probably arlready thought about it.

i like the forbids, but maybe compulsion or recall would work too with the spirit

I was there also, and that comment about only two decks being properly built is totally wrong. I saw several standard Keeper, Suicide, and Parfait..

I remember seeing your deck there and wanting to play against you, but the match loss in the first round ended that Razz Altho taking third after a first round loss was pretty fun
