Oh, damn, 5 proxies of anything?!?! I think I'll play with my deck even though the proxies will be on stupid common and old shit that isn't worth much but still need.  Could've been on Moxen...argh.  Oh well, scratch that, I'll just trade as usuall.  Are there going to be proxies again if this works out?

Can we at least demand full color printed proxies if we are going to allow them? Maybe not even color, but everyone has access to a printer, so at least make so decent proxies.

just curious, bigchuck, but why the demand for printed proxies?  some people like to draw flowers on their plains.

For it to be easily recognized, the same reason Wizards wont let me put Jason Voorhees and Micheal Myers on my Morphlings.

A) Some people may not know what a card does
B) Common courtesy. I write on the backs of cards when I'm testing with a deck, but it just looks really sloppy and such in a tourny(well, it looks sloppy regularly, but it doesn't matter), and it really isn't that hard to print off five proxies.

I can attest to that, seeing as he usually borrows from me

Although I do have to agree good proxies are pretty simple to make.

I liked the Hadley environment alot.  With the addition of the 5 proxies rule, I think we'll just see more of a net-decked environment.

Oh, I don't know about that.
The majority of the players there don't look at the net.
They're rogue and proud of it.

I'm pretty sure the net tells you not to put Reflecting Pool and Hammerheim in a deck,
but there they were top 4 last month.
If he hadn't sided out Balance against Gro, he might well have been top 2.

I think we're going to see more wacky stuff.
Our resident Squirrelcraft player designed a Chains of Mephistopheles deck months ago,
and has been totally unable to find Chains for it.
Now he can play it anyway.

Dude:  I hope that's the case, I like playing in the Hadley environment.  I was just fearing that since people could proxy, they'd remove some of those rogue cards and go with more standard versions of decks.  I'd love to finally see the Meph deck.  He's been asking me to trade mine for months now.

Oh and all you Hadleites check out this post to see if you have any of these.  I should be making the trek up from CT this month.  Hmm... maybe I should check with BigChuck, I bet he borrowed half of them.

Hi everyone....January 11th sounds super...to those of you who have never been to a Hadley Tourney before...check this...

#1...It's held in the coolest mall in the world...the first time I was there, they had a Brittany Spears Lookalike performing in their pavillion and i actually debated dropping from the top 4 to go watch. The mall has an awesome food court, a rollar rink, laser tag, and a video game center

#2...Everyone there is super nice...it is rare to go to a place with as laid back an ambience as this store

#3...Its very centralized for the Boston, Ct, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire peeps

P.S.  Every time I come up...if i bring my type 1 stuff to trade...peeps want type 2...or vice versa...IF ANYONE OUT THERE IS LOOKING FOR SOMETHING PLEASE FEEL FREE TO SEND ME YOUR WANT LISTS WITH WHAT YOU VALUE THE CARDS AT...I'LL DO MY BEST

Can't wait to see you all there

This note goes out to all who plan on attending:

Two times in a row now Ray (IAmFishMan) has come down and won.  Quite frankly, I'm sick of it.  So, Hadley guys, let's kick the crap out of him when he comes to play.  There is a thread up in this forum w/ his decklist.  Study it.  He can't win again.  Hell, I don't even care if Zherbus comes down and wins it; just NOT RAY!

ps: no offense ray

No offense taken Brian....these seems to me to be the highest form of flattery...but c'mon...honestly...what in the world can possibly beat a crappy build of a washed up extended deck like the one I weld...seriously...

On a side note...how does everyone feel about playing magic trivia...it is something I do regularly at my tourneys and i would be willing to do it in Hadley if someone up there wanted to put together 30 grab bags with uncommons and a few with some neat prizes...

Let me know

I think I may show up this month, and if I do that means Jarad and Tim will be there also.

Quote C) I only borrow that many cards once. The other times, i borrowed two or three.

What about the time I lent you an entire deck?  Lets see, you added, um, 4 cards was it?  4 out of 75....that's pretty good, I guess.

Okay...quit the squablling...we all borrow cards like vampric tutor from one another every now and again...it's no big deal.  At any rate, I wanted to know if anyone in here knows of any places specifically in or near Connecticut to play...i'm always looking for new hangouts...Type 2, Type 1, Ext tourneys, etc, all are possiblities

Thanks

Im editing the post so it has 2 purposes now.

anyway, I think we got a few people commited to coming now:
Regular CT crew (Prolly not chuck though because he needs someone who can stand him to give him a ride. Just kidding.)
Steve, maybe he'll get a rematch with the mullet. I call not judging that game.
Ray, coming back for the hat trick.
Anyone else?

argh, i just found out that i'm traveling to dc on the 11th!  i'm pissed, because it seems like a lot of people are coming out of the woodwork for this one.  i'll have to leave it up to the rest of the fierce hadley crew (  ) to keep the mox out of ray's hands...

What is the expected meta if anyone knows...??

our meta.....yikes.
in the big tourneys i think we usually get an (unfortunately)pretty damn good mix of stuff
stuff i know will be there: 1 dragon, 1 mask, 1 BBS, >1 sligh, >1 sui, probably a void, possibly 1 academy, maybe a TnT rep from the CT crew
so either prepare for everything or start praying to the gods of swiss pairings

EDIT: prepare for gro....prepare well.  actually, only for this weird super gro.  cause steve plays u/g grow and i  want hinm to do well.
its just that ray's won the past two, so devote some SB just for him

the metagame is straight-up wierd.  i've played there a lot, and i've seen: keeper, mask, tnt, dragon, parfait, sligh, ww, sui, void, dirty deeds, mono-u/urphid, ose, super gro, AoS, and a good amount of competitive rogue (i.e. the 3-color aggro variety).  there's not an abundance of power, but you'll see your fair share.

for the phone # of the store, find the home site for hampshire mall (look up "hampshire mall" on google.com) and then check out the list of stores.

@mezzir, like i said, i can't make it on saturday, but i'll be at the friday night mini-t1 if you want to run a few games.

Steve isnt gonna be here, so everyone feel free to sideboard heavily for gro.

Well anyway the phone number is 413-582-0310 or just contact me via AIM as BillTheDuck.

About the metagame, we get a pretty good mix with 0 proxies, so with this expect more powered decks.

well nick, i think only your brother sideboards against me personally.  however, ray is going to be there and he's a much bigger threat than i am.  heed these words, board powder kegs and perish!

Hey all, looking for anyone in the central CT area willing/wanting to car pool to Hadley.  Leave me a message here or AIM Zhindel.  Thanks.

EDIT

I'm not just asking for a ride, but can offer one too.

Chris, you say there might be an Academy?  Is that Tom coming to play?  Anyway, I couldn't get my deck built before now, so I can't play, but I'll be there with my proxies for fun games.

He's probably referring to me, as I played academy last time I was there.
