So, this is what myself and leviat have come up with(if attendance allows).
1st Place: Black Lotus(UL, no clue what condition yet, but it won't be ugly, I will make certain of that)
2nd Place: UL Ancestral Recall
3rd and 4th Place: Choice between a Mishra's Workshop OR an English The Abyss(Not sure on condition yet, but they'll look nice)
5th through 8th(Only if we get around 40 or so people): Choice of either: 4 Flooded Strands, 4 Windswept Heath, 4 Bloodstained Mire, 4 Wooded Foothills
Door Prizes(Attendance willing): 1 Foil Masticore, 1 Italian Signed Moat
I really hope we can do the door prizes(so far the idea is to offer them to non-top 8ers, and just do a drawing for them). However, if we don't have enough people to do prizes for quarterfinalists, we can allow quarterfinalists to get some of dat action(meaning include them in the drawing).
Thoughts?\n\n

I can guarantee the following:
The Abyss (NM-) Italian Signed Moat (EX+)
I am also considering having some small jank bonus prizes for different categories but I'll need some help coming up with ideas. Here is some stuff to get the creative juices flowing:
- The Best Rogue Deck Award - The Cheapest Deck Award - The Umm, This Is Type-1, NOT Type-2 Deck Award - The Shinyiest Deck Award - The Most Ghetto Deck Award
The problem with stuff like this is that it's really hard to come to a fair conclusion on a winner. But anyways, if we can come up with ideas, I have lots of signed commons I can give out for prizes.

Looks very good to me. Nice distribution of prizes, and the door prices are a good edition as well.

I'd say just go with the top 4 prizes mentioned and roll with the door prizes for the non-dropping, non-top 4-ing participants and then quit while we're ahead. The prize structure is amazing as it is and I think we should put a cap on what we're giving away (keep in mind we're trying to keep the entry fees low). Let's keep it manageable, kids.
Of course, I'm biased because I want to get all of the final information in to Altered so that we can start the advertising and plugging and collecting pre-registrations.
P.S. The way its shaping up, this thing is going to be something to tell the grandkids about.
P.P.S. I personally don't care about the prizes, I just want enough people to show up so that this tournament goes down in M:TG history as the biggest and best Type 1 in the northeastern U.S.

If it can be anything, I'd say an Ancestral, since 1) there are too many mox tourneys going on anyway and 2) this is the TheManaDrain.com Championship and we should set up really good cards (meaning play value over price) as prizes to further distinguish that we are, in fact, 2 1337 4 j00!!

Well, depending on what you can get, second prize should be either walk, ancestral, or saphire, seeing as they are generally slightly harder to get then most of the other power. I wouldn't mind an LOA either.

2nd should be ancestral. Is is way more universally useful than the other power cards and can trade for anything but a lotus should the 2nd place guy already own one.

Isn't there a way to work a MANA DRAIN into the prize structure, somewhere? I cannot attend, if its in the NE, but just an idea, after all....

3rd place will be based on tiebreakers, hopefully showing that person beat better players, and therefore, deserves a bigger/better prize. However, they may want an Abyss, so they get the choice etc.
I will close by saying: WE HAVE ALL THE PRIZES. It is now just a matter of enough people showing up. The cards are with me and leviat, so don't worry about prizes not being there(we might put em in a case or something and show em off). If everyone thinks it might help, we can ask Altered if they'd like to hold onto the prizes and put them on display to maybe boost attendance.

I think this would make more sense, and avoid problems.

That sounds like a good idea, and for prizes like that, we might want to do just that unless they agree one person gets one and the other gets the other or something(though I don't really see that happening).

Well, could one person say "If you take the Abyss, and let me have the Workshop, I'll give you $15" or would that not be allowed?

Hey, if one of them wants to trade their new Abyss and $15 for the other's Workshop, that's up to them.

Quote Well, could one person say "If you take the Abyss, and let me have the Workshop, I'll give you $15" or would that not be allowed? For the record, Altered States has a VERY STRICT policy that no cards my be sold unless they are the one selling. You can trade card(s) for card(s), but if they see any flow of cash for cards, they will kick you out and ban you from the premises. I have even heard of them doing this if they catch you doing it outside their store. So be wary!

Jeek, you can't wear a Disney hat with a Psychopathic Jersey. I think you would have to get your assed kicked for that.

I really like your prizes, but I have to agree with the guy that said you really need to give mana drains as prizes somewhere.
I mean it is "THE MANA DRAIN" torney?? right?
I don't know how you could fit them in but somebody's got to at least win 1 mana drain.
