Neutral Ground NY Sunday T1--winner

Well, I haven't done this for awhile, so I'll post a report.

I played my standard Enchantress decklist, with a second Scrubland in lieu of the Lotus I don't own.

Round 1 vs. Random Dude with Type 2 White Weenie
I saw Ardent Soldiers, Eager Cadets, and even a Sigil of the New Dawn.

Round 2 vs. Robb Williams playing Cradle-Elf (1-0, 2-0)
Robb is one of NG's best Keeper players with a 1900+ rating, but today he busted out the Elf deck and whooped all over Legend's Ankh Sligh.
Game one: He plays about 4 mana elves, a Gaea's Cradle, and Weird Harvests for 5 getting Multani's Acolytes and Elvish Lyrists.  I get a quick Enchantress/Worship and I think I was amassing Sterling Groves to make his Lyrists suck and he concede.
Game two: He keeps a hand with a bunch of 6cc cards and a forest and elf.  I get Enchantress, Worship, Karmic Justice.

Round 3 vs. Eric Wilkinson playing Keeper (2-0, 4-0)
Game one:
Eric is another one of NG's top Keeper players.  We play against each other all the time but hadn't for awhile.
Game one he parises but goes turn one Ancestral.  I Duress a counterspell (can't remember which one) and get an early Enchantress, seeing he has a Cunning Wish and a Stroke.  I cast an Enchantress's Presence the next turn, but he topdecked a Mana Drain and counters it.  I'm really worried that he'll get a fat Stroke but he decides to burn (don't know why, I think he could have drawn a few cards and kept UU).  He winds up Stroking EOT for 3 shortly later.  I resolve a Sylvan and Grove but don't want to Grove for Pursuit cause he can Wish for Allay.  He Fact or Fictions into 2 lands, 2 Mana Drains, and a Lotus Petal in response to my next Duress; he takes the Petal and Drain and I get rid of the Drain.  I cast another Enchantress, knowing that he has a Vamp Tutor boarded against Suicide, hoping to get him to Wish for Vamp and Balance away the Enchantresses, letting me blow my Grove and get my draw-seven down.  The plan works.  Petal and Vamp are card disadvantage mavens and he can't stop my Sylvan-Pursuit.  I Replenish it and he concedes.

Game two he thinks a LONG time about whether to keep his hand and decides to do so.  He plays Land Lotus Mindtwist for 3, getting a Mox Jet, Wasteland, and Grove.  I play turn 1 Enchantress.  He misses his next land drop and I Waste his land.  He is mana hosed for a while, I get Sylvan-Pursuit through, draw seven, Strip his land, and he scoops.

I get $10 store credit, which I use along with a bunch of trade-in stuff to get a nice Alpha Tundra.

In my last 13 tournament matches (since Onslaught) at Neutral Ground, Enchantress is now 11-1-1, with the loss only because my deck crapped out on my against Pox of all things.  However, I've had the fortune to play against some real newbies.  Probably only 6 or 7 of those wins were against well constructed well played T1 decks.

First of all, this was the Friday Type I, so that should put an end to the confusion.

Now, let's get real here for a second. This was a 5 person unsanctioned tournament. In fact, calling it a "tournament" is being generous. I got on the train to NYC expecting the turnout to be more like 10-15, as it had been last time I went in December. But for whatever reason, this did not happen. This "tournament" was so crappy that I left after one round, losing to that elf deck played by Robb Williams. I didn't care at all, given the fact that no rating points were on the line. All I will say about the Elf vs. Ankh Sligh matchup is that Bubble Matrix is game over. Lots of elves, with no way to remove them. So I ended up playing a few practice games against Eric Wilkinson and his Keeper deck, and Robb Williams and his Keeper deck. I liked what I saw there, then I left and caught the 5:26 express train back out to Long Island.\n\n

Hmmm, a 5-person tournament, in which 1 of your rounds was against an obvious newbie, and another against what appears to be a good player just there to play for fun.  I think it is an implied rule of this forum that only at least semi-serious reports are posted.  This report is like if I were to post a report of the results of my 2 a.m. apprentice matches vs. my stoned college buddy

Yes, Eric is playing a MD Lotus Petal in Keeper.  He likes having turn 1 UU and an extra mana off a Will.
Yes, it was a really small turnout, but it was still 3 matches, and one of them was against Eric (and thus relevant for our purposes).  Obviously, I didn't devote a ton of time to describing the first two.  All the other tourneys I've been to there the last two months have been sanctioned, though.  I would have posted a report the last time I was there but I forgot.

Good lord.  I am all in favor of experimentation in Keeper, but this seems a bit extreme.  I wonder what he cut for it?

Eric has been trying to push it (petal) on the rest of the Paragons list, but noones really paying attention. I'll just speak for myself when I say that nothing short of a firearm will force me to play Lotus Petal in Keeper.

As far as posting this report here, its fine. It IS still 3 matches and reading them could be helpful to others. It shouldn't be over analyzed or serve as solid bragging fodder however.

Again, it was just the one I happened to report.  All the other (including the one I won) were bigger and sanctioned; I just don't remember the details.
