I played and tested Gamble in Slax from early September to the middle of last month, when I dropped it for Mind's Eye. It's in incredibly average card. There's no better way to explain it. Sometimes it's awesome, sometimes you wince when you draw it. Most of the time it's just 'eh'.

We could try out a version where:

-1 Chalice
+1 Gamble.

in THEORY, its the same as running 4 chalice, and 5x of every other 4x card you have in your deck. The discard is actually less of a disadvantage than thought, since the majority of your hand will be weldable targets (unless you discard land/welder/metalworker), and things that may not get high on the cast on list can be welded in easily

Remember that you generally DON'T want to Gamble with a Chalice in your hand, unless you don't have a Chalice for 0 out yet, because they you've effectively lost 2 of the 4, unless you run something random like POwer Conduit to add more counters.

On a offtopic note, playtesting with Deadbolt has been working very well. Piloted by me on #magic-league the other day, works great. Especially with the SB (shadow if you have time, can you update pls), I beat a Stax-Aggro, sum Keeper (after SB, its pure rapage), and a couple rogue decks

4 R&R
4 Crypt
4 REB
3 Moon

Iam going to give it to my fellow team partners for what promises to be testing intensive.

I also find, that Iam also always seem to be missing that one piece needed to seal the deal, so the Gamble is seriously being considered. In short, it makes you run an extra copy of what you really want, and although the discard may make you discard the card you tutor for, chances are if its an artifact, you can just Weld it.

Or it could be just that Appr shuffler sucks and we need 2.0 to come out badly for some real testing to be effective.

Iam also planning to take Deadbolt to a #magic-league T1 tourney with sanctioned prizes and stuff, as well as for recognition and to prove the deck works. And the best part is, it requires no investment!
