Hello All!

Although I've been lurking these forums for a long time now, this is my first time posting here on TMD. I thought that I would share some newbie insight will all of you.

My buddy Dave (DavidHernandez here on TMD) needs a place to crash before a business meeting he has on Friday. So, of course, he's welcome to my place. He shows up at my work at 12:00pm and says "Lets Play". Sounds like a good plan to me, however, I'm on the clock until 7:00pm. Fortunately we get out at 6:30 and head to the mall to get his son a birthday gift, and grab some grub.

We walk into Chipotle with magic decks in hand, order up some food, and I find us a table with a nice view (some cute employee that was on her break). Dave is playing his stacker build and I'm running Oshawa Stompy. After a few games, said cutie comes over and asks what we are playing. We begin to explain the basic concept of the game, and she asks if she watch a few games (cute girl interested in magic, WTF!?!?!?). Of course we don't object, and Dave explains a few more parts of the game, mana, tapping etc. We start up a new match and I win the die roll.

Then the wreaking ball hits.

I open with Bazaar of Baghdad and pass my turn.
Dave drops Mountain, Mox Pear, taps both and play Pyrostatic Pillar.
Dave explains the use of mana.
I respond by tapping Bazaar to draw cards.

Chipotle girl: "what did you just do?"
Me:"This land lets me draw 2 cards and then I have to..."
Chipotle girl: "Oh, so if you are drawing cards then you're winning."
Me: /SWOON

Drawing cards is winning.

girls that dig magic and arent obscenely gross = elite.  i suggest to anyone that hasn't found one, to go out and recruit one.  been happily dating one of these rare girls for a year now, and its the illest (even if i have to play shitty to get her to win... the interest is there and it makes things SO much cooler.  try, try, try... youll find the girl that doesnt say 'oh, so thats like role-playing.  elves are cute, but you're all too creepy for me.'

Damn, I had to learn how to cross stitch in order for my fiance to learn how to play magic.  I spend hours and hours stitching this little bear...  She spent a few hours trying to play against me.  Well, needless to say, I don't cross stitch anymore and she doesn't play Magic.

At least we have enough other things in common Wink

But, yeah, that's a very cool story.

Jesus thats the wirest you really need to get laid or somthing this is a forum for type one info ans such a mod shoukd def close this tread.

No, but a mod should definitely tell you to write more legibly. You may be new to Type One, but I'd bet you're not new to a keyboard or the English language. If you're going to whine and complain, at least do it in style.[/color]

You should carry a wedding ring with you at all times, for when you meet her again.

Where I am from, it's much like this:
Me: I am going to Indianapolis this weekend.
Her: What for?
Me: *thinking: I can't tell her it's a PTQ.........* Um, I'm going to be..uh...hanging out....with....friends.

Bah, don't hide your hobbies.  If you make people think you're ashamed of them, they're far more likely to think they're something to be ashamed of.  If you're going to Indy for a PTQ, say you're going to Indy for a PTQ.  The fact that doing well enough could earn you a fair amount of scratch for playing a game can't hurt.  Being a geek isn't stigmatic anymore, as long as you don't want it to be.  Besides, you never know what could happen.  I recently told a girl I know that I play Magic and surprise surprise! She told me she used to play as well and wants to show me her old cards.

we actually got that response from a lot of random people, ie. football players, etc. when we started a magic club at my college.  it was really wierd for a while there, but we're kinda used to it now.  we had one kid show up who has multiple workshops.  every once in a while it gets really strange when you tell people that their cards are worth a lot of money.

Fun little story, but I doubt any more use can come from letting people respond.
