Hey All, This is my first tourney report, so bear with me. No interesting morning rituals, woke up and talked to people via AIM, showered (more gamers need to do this), got ready, printed proxies, out the door of my dorm. Said hello’s to people and lost a very important game of battleship. Subway eats followed by the first round.

Round One (Alex Bergin) w/ U/R Landstill
Game One: We both kept land light hands, mine included wasteland and Mishra’s workshop with 2x Su-chi’s, and other stuff. He strips my wasteland. He drops manlands and swings at me for a couple of turns. I get another land and mox and start dropping su-chis (lightning bolt this baby, just try ). He couldn’t take it and bloodmoon finishes him off after he mistaps to counter my pyrostatic pillar.
Game Two: I resolve first turn welder Blood moon, I follow up with lots of phat of Moxen and mana crypt. He bolts some phat, he can’t stabilize or deal, I outrace disk by a turn and slide by.
1-0-0
Round Two (Matt Koperwatz) w/ Gay-R
Game One: I kept a very progressive hand. He gets quick beats in and I take swings for a couple of turns down to seven life. I get enough colored mana to start using survival properly and drop phat and platinum angel when I was low on life, hasty phat wins.
Game Two: We both kept weird hands with each of us having a wasteland and another mana source. We exchange wastes and we go in top decking mode for land. I get the land first and I hit survival. Phat hits table he still is landlocked. Phat bludgeons for the win.
2-0-0
Round Three (Moose5) w/ Keeper
Game One: Nothing Interesting occurred. A Su-Chi hit the table and went all the way
Game Two: He goes into first turn time walk. On his second turn he drops land mox and EOT Fact or Fictioned into good stuff. I have nothing really good and my mana sources are gone. Quick cycle of decree and I am dead.
Game Three: I Paris to five cards and still have no land. I kept because it had 2x REB and a pyrostatic pillar. I didn’t draw into land for a while and got a ruby. He top decked gorilla shaman and ate it. I drew nothing and I conceded.
2-1-0 Round Four (James Sistler, PIGGY of Team Goat) Psychatog
Game One: A first turn survival resolved. Bloodmoon resolved. Unfortunately he was card screwed, so my Phat went in.
Game Two: Duplicant does its tricks on an early Tog of a Survival of the Fittest and a resolved Goblin Welder. Stuff happened Phat swung in.
3-1-0
Round Five (Dan Rix, MATRIX of Team RI) Playing Keeper
This guy was cool, we played some casual games at Waterbury and we hung out at Chili’s. We debated over ID, and decided it was better to play.
Game One: He gets an early Isochron imprinting Disenchant. Ouch. I Resolved Survival and started casting Phat and Welders. I survivaled and got a lot of damage through because of my multiple welders, exchanging Phat for more Phat in response to the scepter. He disenchanted my phat and played another scepter imprinting swords to plowshares. He was a turn away from full control and I got him to enough life where I could weld my phat for a lotus, survival for Trike and weld it in pinging him to death.
Game Two: I was so tired from the first game because of how strenuous it was to play through. I don’t remember much but my phat creatures did there job.
I really felt bad because we talked about ID before the match began, and he was really cool and I couldn’t help but feel bad because I kept him out of Top 8.
4-1-0
Round Six (Sean Brownlee, Local Friend)
He didn’t have a good enough record to hit top 8, so he was cool and he gave me the match. Thanks Bro.
5-1-0
Top 8 (Eric Wilkinson) Playing Keeper
Game One: Same situation occurred as with Matrix, he wished for disenchant and imprinted it on scepter. He asked me if I wanted to concede and go to the next match. Remembering what happened with Matrix, I vouched to keep on going. We battled over some survivals and pillars, and I managed to win with multiple Welders and juicy targets in play and in my yard, negating the scepter. He also burned for a lot of mana, facilitating my win. I think he was searching for a red source to kill my welders, but I guess he couldn’t find them.
Game Two: I don’t remember what happened, I think I resolved survival and welders, but never drew into a red source to keep my anger active, so I slowly just cast Phat upon Phat, eventually I steamrolled over.
Top Four (Adam Bowers of Hadley, and the coolest person at the tourney and the TRUE pimp of TMD) playing Dragon
I like Adam because watching him play is a blast, and he is a great person in general. He also hooked me up with some Pimp stuff for my TnT post Darksteel legality.
Game One: I Paris’d my hand, hoping to get a first turn welder, and an artifact so that if he combo’d out, I could weld Platinum angel in during my upkeep. I decided to keep the hand with a welder, never drew an artifact, not that I had much chance he won as dragon does, very early.
Game Two: I resolved a first turn bloodmoon. I couldn’t follow it up with anything except a pillar. He hardcasted squee and went for beats. I almost hit critical of the mana crypt and the squee, but I hit a juggernaut and started attacking. He chumped every turn until I hit another pillar, so he would take 4 if he casted squee, or 5 from the juggernaut.
Game Three: I striped his basic swamp, which led into a bloodmoon next turn. I cast phat and I won. He was one turn away from hardcasting a worldgorger dragon. Phew.
Finals- Ray IAMFISHMAN playing Slavery.
We arrange a split before the match. Winner gets the lotus and loser gets the timetwister and a piece of power from the opponent.
Game One: We both get landlocked and go for some welder on welder exchange. This went on for a while, and he eventually got set up and owned me.
Game Two: Swung with some beats, he got a slaver off me. I crypted the Mindslavers, he crypted away my anger, making his control of my next turn not as dismantling as it would have been. Me and my nervousness because of being in the finals and being surrounded made me commit a dump truck full of misplays, I pulled of a win with Platinum Angel.
Game Three: He went off and I conceded after a broken fact or fiction.
We went to Chili’s After. The group consisted of Matrix, Ben Kowal, Adam, Ray, Theresa (Ray’s Girlfriend), Tom, Joe (Local Aka Dragonfire425), and Matt (local), and myself. Ray is a blast and he told us old magic stories and funny teaching stories.
Great Tourney and I met a lot of people, I hope to see more faces soon in the future. Props -Jason the store owner for actually having decent timed rounds -Moose05 for coming through with some cards -Adam Bowers for some sweet trades -Sean Brownlee for hooking me up in the final round -All my opponents, especially Piggy and Matrix -Ben Kowal, for making random funny jokes and making fun of me sucking at magic all day long. --Ray and Ultima, for beating my ass in Battleship.
Slops - All the random objects that punished my body today. 1. Someone with a Rook Longbox jabbed it in my kidney 2. Lord of the Goats threw a Giant Die into my balls which made me sit down for a couple of minutes. 3. Some huge kid stepped on my foot and shoved me into some warhammer props in the basement, because of a rush caused by the pairings for the next round. 4. The waiter at the restaurant that jabbed me in the rib with a plate. - Subway, for taking 45 minutes to make the sandwiches of three friggin people. (Oh subway Im kidding, I would never give you a slop.) - Random gamers that refuse to shower often and pollute the bathroom.
