You can never have enough Fling!

A simple land that can freeze up some attacker - He basicly tries to walk to the plains to deal it's damage, yet it freezes up.

Cold Plains
Land - Plains
T: Target attacking creature deals no combat damage this turn and does not untap until the creature's controller plays a spell.

I'm not sure on the "unfreeze" condition, so I'm very open to suggestions there. Since it's a land - Plains, I don't need to slap on T: W right?

current wording:

Nunatak
Land
If Nunatak  would come into play, sacrifice a Plains instead. If you do, put Nunatak into play. If you don't, put it into its owner's graveyard.
W, T: Target attacking creature deals no combat damage this turn and does not untap until the creature's controller plays a spell.
T: Add W to your mana pool

This is too strong.
-strictly better than a basic land
-can be searched for by fetches and any card which says "plains"

This needs some kind of "additional cost to play" type affect at the very least.

I don't like this having the sub-type Plains for two reasons.

1.  It makes it too good.

2.  Confusion.

Let me expand on 2 a bit.  Yes, it doesn't need any rules text for a mana ability, as it is intrinsically built into the Plains subtype.  However, not many people actually know this and without a visual indicator this taps for white mana all sorts of mayhem would ensue.

I'd say, drop the Plains subtype, and add a white mana ability.

This card is incredibly good.
It's almost strictly better than Maze of Ith, especially considering it can tap for colored mana.
It's a card that only affects attacking creature, but it's playable in Type 1. This should give some scale as to how good it would be anywhere else.
This card is an almost immediate 4-of in Keeper, ESPECIALLY because it's colored. It's AMAZING vs Aggro, and will singly-handedly hold Tog back.
I think this card would be more balanced as a Whipcorder variant (i.e: a creature of some sort).

peace,

Ok, now that I look at it again, it still seems too good.

Maybe it should at least come into play tapped, or require a mana cost to activate as well?

I think this is the perfect type of card for the "Property Land" ability to be added. Simply make the caster pay W when it comes into play and it'd be pretty much fine.
This should probably be Legendary also (or instead).

-still strictly better than a basic land

When I think of 'cold plains' I think Tundra.

That ability is ridiculously good. This needs some serious drawbacks. For starters, the mana ability should probably produce colorless mana. And the other ability should require mana to activate. But then this starts to look like Kor Haven.

You're forgetting that if you actually play a spell.... ANY spell.... the frozen creature in question untaps again. So maybe this can hold of one dude, but it can never hold off a horde.

I'm not sure about legendary land, what's so legendary about it? It's no Karakas or whatever.

I'll add in an activation kost for the ability, and give it an Outpost-clause.

Please change the name. Until WotC buys out Blizzard, I don't think we should be using areas from Diablo 2 on cards.

I know this won't happen in a tournament, but if my opponent has Chaos Orb in his hand while I'm controlling his turn from a Mindslaver, who flips the card if I force him to play it and activate it?

How about:

nunatak
\Nu"na*tak\, n.; pl. -taks </search?q=-taks>(the pl. form Nunatakker </search?q=nunatakker> is Swedish). [Eskimo nun[ae]ttak.] In Greenland, an insular hill or mountain surrounded by an ice sheet.

Hmm... it does sound a bit weird, but if anyone else also thinks it's good to go, it's fine with me.

Well let me put it this way: "Cold Plains" will NOT be added, so might as well go with Upinthe's suggestion.
