Lat-Nam's Legacy  {1}  {U}
Instant   -  Alliances

Shuffle a card from your hand into your library. If you do, draw two cards at the beginning of the next turn's upkeep. [Oracle 2001/08/24]

After shuffling through my stacks of cards I found this one and it caught my attention.  My initial thought was that it's a solid draw 2 cards for AK cost as an eot spell.   However it has other uses too.    for AK cost you can protect a card in hand that you don't want a Duress to get however you can't use right at the moment.   It seems like a decent card to try out in some sort of Tog/GAT build.  The card seems solid but on the other hand it's net card advantage of 0 but possibly a trade for 2 better cards.

Ooo, I remember this card. I've never tested it though. The biggest problem is the delayed draw. If it drew right now, it'd be in competition with Impulse easily. But time is games in Type One, so I don't think that this can work in such a fast format.

That and the fact that Brainstorm/Fetchland does the same effect better in like every way.

I looked at this card when I was tinkering with my Rector/Tendrils deck. There you already have 4 Brainstorms, but still, you're often in situations where you are stuck with what you want to fetch with you Rector in hand. Appart from the drawback that the draw is delayed, you needed to have a card in your hand that you can spare. In a combo deck your hand is a sparse resource and you're not seldom in top deck mode. If so, this card is dead. Conclusion was that is was only good if you had plenty of resorces and plenty of time, not very attracting for a combo deck.

I was taking it as a given that any deck using Legacy would already have four Brainstorms automatically.

exactly...If my deck had Brainstorm and I wanted more draw, I'd go for Ancestral Recall, Impulse, AK if suitable, Soothsaying even. Legacy just didn't cut it compared to the other just plain draw.

Another thing to remember about thius card is when you shuffle something back, you've got more cards you're diggin into. I play Land Grant in my green creations because in the end, it makes my deck up to and smoetimes more than 8 cards smaller, Increasing my chances of drawing the kill.

Peace Cool

The only plae I see it in is in rector so you can shuffle the bargain back in. Brainstorm can pause the bargain, but this gives you much better odds.

This card is terrible! You pay 2 mana to lose two cards from your hand, to get them back next turn. If you just put a different card in your deck, you would save two mana and have two more cards for half of a turn. Is there something good about this card that I am missing?

If there is a dead card in your hand, then this replaces it with something that (may) be more useful. It is basically draw two cards if your putting back something that is dead, because the card wasn't useful for your anyway.

Why are you playing with more dead cards than Brainstorm can take care of?

Play Legacy - then Balance!
Play Legacy and shuffle in Jar - then Tinker!

It really is a good card - but since there are so many better alternatives it seldom sees play. Too situational...
