Symbiont 1B Enchant Creature Enchanted creature gets -1/-1. 2: Put a +1/+1 counter on enchanted creature.
See, this creature comes to live inside you, and that hurts a bit, but it also strengthens you. A dual-use card for dual-use people. And also bisexuals.

Make it really like Takklemaggot:
During your upkeep, put a -1/-1 counter on enchanted creature.
2: Put a +1/+1 counter on enchanted creature. Any player may play this ability.

I'm not sure I like the "during each upkeep" idea, but I do love allowing any player to add the counters... Although I like just about anything that makes a card more interesting in multiplayer.

With only -1/-1, the ability to add +1/+1 counters to the creature gets silly very fast. Consider Dragon Blood. It has the advantage of being able to put the +1/+1 counters anywhere, but it costs 3 and it taps. Even a very rudimentary elf deck could generate enough mana to totally outstrip this card's measly -1/-1 many times over in a single turn.

This card isn't as interesting as your title. Takklemaggot THE way to kill Autumn Willow.
Anyway
Couldn't you just make it give -1/-1 to start and enchanted creature gains Tap: Put a +1/+1 counter on itself
The Symiant grows after an initial period of weakness. It is somewhat weak but it does double up as a kill spell.
Another alternative, one that has seen a few variants before, is to allowa symbiosis of 2 creatures you control. One creature, 2 cards (BFM), add up the combined power and combined toughness and the creature all of the abilities of the 2 sybiotic creatures. I am sure casual players can do freaky stuff with that but 3 cards for one super creature is hardly likely to break anything. Of course being an Enchant Creatures is pretty cool and a Disenchant (Naturalize to you Type 2 players) can split the pair at opportune/inopportune moments. Anyway that is functionally a million miles from Matt's suggested card but is somewhat similar from a flavour point of view.

In symbiosis, both creatures have an advantage. In commensalism, only one of them has. In parasitism, only one has an advantage, too, but the other one even has a disadvantage.
Is this really symbiosis? I don't see the other one have a benefit too. Or is that the initial -1/-1, which represents the receiver giving something to the symbiont?

Forcing the creature to tap is a HUGE drawback unless it's on a Yotian Soldier or similar. Ever play with Energizer?

Matt is, as usual, correct. Growing by tapping is too weak. Would the tapping ability be too cumbersome to tag on to the card as an additional ability? Giving you the option of growth by mana and/or by tapping isn't a big change but it would be important in casual where 'pinging' is more common - you can enchant an active 2/2 creature without mana open without fear of that nasty Tim.
I think from a functional point of view it is better to have the choice but I see that the card would lose a lot of focus and elegance.
