The columbus rule continued: only decks with 4 Force of Will made top 8.  I hope wompy will have them up, and when he does, then you can see them

1st Place: JP Meyer with UG Madness
2nd: Drain Slaver
3rd: Tog
4th UG Madness
5th: EBA
6th: Meandeck Slavery
7th: Draw7
8th Meandeck Slavery

There were 6 meandeckers in the top 8 and another UG Madness made 9th.  I should mention that most of the matches were extremely close and were made by narrow wins.  The tournament was tough.

Holy crap thats a lot of U/G madness high finishes. Anyways, props to everyone. What was the field breakdown? It definitely sucks that there was only 1 tog deck in the T8 (was it bushman?)

Anyways, when's the next one? Big Bizzob is boughts to rep D-Town one more time....and this time around I won't lose to cinnamon in the semi-finals! Very Happy

It's the name we give to the Mindslaver deck designed by Kim Kluck.

Edit: Kim has PMed me (TMD name = Shades), he calls the deck "The Enslaver".

Why would you call it Drain Slaver when everyone knows it by TAL's primer title? I guess there's a parellel to "Workshop Slavery", naming by the mana engine, but this is T1, we take broken over consistent every time. :)

Also, did anyone else see TARPAN in #7's sideboard? TARPANTARPANTARPAN.

Wow, interesting T8...Congrats to everyone who made it...it's nice to see familiar people doing well (Tim Allen, Jason StinnitT, Joe Bushman, K-dizzle, cinnamon)...

The Tog list is EXACTLY Identical to mine MD, so I'm definitely glad to see it T4.

Becuase a) Jason wanted it called Drain Slaver, and b) becuase Control slaver doesn't indicate which slaver it is, in my mind.  Both decks are control decks.

I won't disagree with the point about both Slaver decks being, on some level, control decks. But here, I'll have to disagree. Calling a Slaver deck a "Control Slaver" deck certainly does indicate which build of Slaver it is, because everyone knows which build the name "Control Slaver" describes.

Or how about we just put it in a dress and call it "Tracy"?  Did you know what Cinnamon was talking about when he said Drain Slaver?  Good, so did I.

Congrats to JP and kirdape3, who both demolished some pretty strong competition.

LOL. So because you don't like the name your going to call it something different everytime? That's horrible. Just because I don't like the name Slide has in T2, doesn't mean I'm going to call it something different.

BTW, congrats @ JP.

Then let's call it "Enslaver", as its creator names it.

A few comments:

First - My decklist is off by one card, and that's the 5th Island.  Islands are sooo good in that deck.

Second - I call my build Drain Slaver because I think Control Slaver is a bit of a misnomer.  I really liked the direction that ELD was going - both tuning and playing the deck more aggressively.  I took that a step further cutting Platinum Angel and Cunning Wish, and adding Pentavus #2 and Mindslaver #3.  This makes the deck more focused on comboing out than being reactive with Wish and Fire/Ice.  The pair of Gorilla Shamans represent, to me, a more proactive answer to the prevalence of artifacts in the metagame, and they were awesome all day.  While the deck can do an awesome job at playing the control role, most of the time you should assign your role as the aggressor.  For example, if you try to play control against Tog and they understand that they're supposed to play control against you, you're going to lose.  The notable exception is against Workshop Slavery where you board out your welders in favor of going up to 4 Gorilla Shaman and 2 Rack 'n Ruin and play pure control.  Also, ELD's excellent addition of Flametongue Kavu makes you the beatdown in even more matchups, particularly against Madness and Fish decks, with transformational sideboarding - taking out 3 Slavers and Memory Jar (vs madness) in favor of 4 FTK.  While Drain Slaver is an evolution of Control Slaver, if you try to play the control role outside of certain matchups you're going to lose with it.  I hope to discuss this more in the appropriate forums.

Peace,
   Jason

"A good Tarpan will serve you, faithful and true.  A bad one will kick you in the head." - General Jarkeld, the Arctic Fox

I used to carry around this Tarpan that I scratched Bad Mother Fucker on, and I'd always Demonic Consultation for it in a pinch...

Honestly though, Tarpan is our secret tech - it's *really* good vs. control.  Tim and I agree that, in retrospect, the 2 Oxidize should have been Tarpan 3 and 4.  I'm confident they're going to be a permanent addition to our list.

The obvious solution is for Hadley and Columbus to construct a Nydus Canal which will enable their tournaments to reach my analysis pages.

That's right, and the field was completely inbred:

5 x Shop Slaver (Me, Binary/Ted, Darke/Mike, Cinnamon, RandomNetDecker)
1 x Drain Slaver (Captain Jason "Grim Reminder" Stinnett)
3 x UG Madness (JP/JP, Kirdape3,000,000/Rian, HiVal/Doug)
2 x Mint Skittles (Soupy/John, Jawman16/Jeff)

That's 11 out of 18 playing either Slaver or BeatSlaver.  12, If you count the guy I don't know (Joe) at the bottom with Landstill.

The only regulars to not be in that group were Ballys Tim (12) playing Draw-7 (and doing pretty well).  [Man, did his deck ever Love Him Long Time in round 5!  ]
... and BUSH MAN (13) and Roland (14), mit Tog.

Other decks?  I guess they are also regulars:

15: Justin:  draw 7
16: Willy: Tog

Other peeps:
17: RecSur aka WorseThanD4RGON.dec
18: Joe: Landstill

Jeff (who played EBA) is Jawman16 on TMD.
Also, You skipped number 14, but I you can fill that in with Joe (another Sports Heaven regular) who played UR Landstill.

Yes, it reeks of that a bit.  There are really only 4 types of people represented at this tourney:

Mean Deck: 8
Friends of Mean Deck: 4      [ie. those that test w/MD]
Others within a tank trip: 5  [still Friends, of course Smile]
Out-of-Towner: 1

It's the best we can do, locally, when Mean Deckers are primarily gearing up for bigger events.
