Well althought no one remembered or took the time to advertise the Monthly Carta t1 this sunday there was still an ok turnout.
Around 40 people battling through 6 rounds of swiss for 150 Canadian dollars only to have Landstill and Food Chain Goblins split for first.
I came in 3rd place loseing my only two maches that day (once in swiss once in top4) to Food Chain Goblins.
I was playing GAT and will hopefully get a report up soon (something to look forward to  Razz )

The top 8 consisted of:

1st Martin Bonneville playing Food chain Goblins (Chiz on TMD I think)
1st Jean-Phillipe Keable playing Landstill
3rd Justin Wilder playing Gro-A-Tog (Jamino on TMD, tats me)
4th Jean playing Control Slaver (Miaou on TMD)
5th Some guy from Ottawa playing Rector Trix
6th I dont know who playing Keeper
7th Mathew Bedard playing Goblins (I made it for him fast befor the tourney without any list so the deck was far from perfect)
8th Unknown playing Dragon

The list I played was

4 Force of Will
4 Mana Drain
4 Duress
4 Accumulated Knowledge
4 Brainstorm
4 Quirion Dryad
2 Psychatog
2 Cunning Wish
1 Demonic Tutor
1 Mystical Tutor
1 Regrowth
2 Pernicious Deed
1 Ancestral Recall
1 Timewalk
1 Yawgmoth's Will
1 Gush
1 Mind Twist
1 Black Lotus
1 Mox Sapphire
1 Mox Jet
1 Mox Emerald
1 Library of Alexandria
1 Strip Mine
4 Polluted Delta
1 Flooded Strand
4 Underground Sea
4 Tropical Island
2 Island
1 Swamp

Sideboard: 15 Cards
2 Oxydize
1 Naturalize
1 Wail of the Nym
2 Null Rod
3 Xantid Swarm
1 Fact or Fiction
1 Blue Elemental Blast
2 Coffin Purge
1 Berserk
1 Pernicious Deed

As I said above hopefully by then end of the week I should edit in a report.

The metagame was not as varried as I expected but was jam packed with powered decks and even a preconstructed Bird deck with elves which promply beat Rector Trix (the same guy in the top8) by smashing in with elves. He even had a Byorithym somewhere in his deck!!!!
Throught out the day I asked how he was doing and maybe the changes he could make for the next time. I feel so good about my self now  Very Happy

So as I was saying the meta looked something like this:

4-5 Goblin, Ankh Sligh and Food chain
7-8 Workshop decks including ALOT of control slaver and a few Workshop builds.
3-4 Gro-A-Tog and Hulk Smash
2-3 Ophidian based decks
A few Suicide and mono black
The usual randomness
3 Dragon
1-2 Landstill
2-3 Fish (including a semi powered WTF I lent out)
And obvioussly others which I can not remember.
2 Neo Academy (one played by TMD very own BurningIce)

All in all it was a great tourney and  hopefully we will be able to get more people to come next time.

Way to go Jamino! You'll be able to win it all one day.
Next time, I'll be more prepared for this tourney.
I didn't do mch with this one. Although a combination of Sphere of resistance and Trinisphere is awesome!

... eastern Canada dude, Montreal. I heard BC is the driest of all provinces when it comes to vintage magic.

I was the guy playing rector trix, and I believe the keeper player you speak of was my friend Sebastian.  I wrote a report for starcity because I was bored, and if gets posted I will link to it here.

Also, yes, I lost to a kid playing a precon because i had 2 of the absolute worst draws I have ever had (start out with a quick opening then draw nothing forever).

Hey nick!
You where a great opponenent and don't worry that preconstructed elf/bird/wizard deck was packed with rector hateing
First time I've seen you there but it was great playing against you, I really though you had the game when you had tho two rectors out of course my savage skills gave me a Yawgs will and it was all over...
Congrats on top 8.
Hope you will make the trip again!
