Since this tournament was on Easter, the prize was a little less than a power tourney.  1st was for Mishra's Workshop, 2nd for Berserk, and store credit for 3rd/4th.

21 people showed and about 16 played all 5 rounds.  The field was a strong showing from aggro, with 3 dragon decks and a few other things.  I'm going to be getting the lists for the top 4 decks, and maybe a couple from the quarterfinalists.  I'll edit the post as I receive lists.

I played MaDragon and ended up 4-2-1, in 3rd/4th.

Top 8
1. Travis Suer with Hulk
2. Gerry Thompson (Beowulf) with Workshop Slaver
3. Luke Ojala with U/G Madness
4. Jim Toltzman with U/R Landstill
5. Steven Petersen (waSP) with MaDragon
6. Curt Snow with R/G Ponza
7. Darek Flaten with Food Chain Goblins
8. Paul Pedersen with Dragon (with Compulsion and no Bazaars)

People from the Top 8, send me your list if you see this and your list isn't up.

Travis, Gerry, Luke, and I won.

Gerry beat Travis 2-0.

Now, a short report from me.

Round 1 against Pual Pedersen with U/B/r Dragon

He gets Buried Alive turn 2, I don't have an animate.  He animates the next turn and kills me.

He gets Buried Alive turn 1.  I don't have a black source and something else.  He casts Dance, I die.

0-2

Round 2 against Tom (Larsen?) (defector) with U/W Tubbies

I combo off and kill him with Angry creatures.

He wrecks me with Sundering Titan and random fat (read Exalted Angel).

He tries to wreck me with Memnarch, I come back with Wonder and Survival.

2-3

Round 3 against Jerome (something) with B/g Dragon

I go off turn 4 or 5 after he's used Necropotence a lot and I've attacked him a bunch.

He kills me turn 3 after Entomb'ing eot with Drain Life (blasted Rootwalla in my graveyard).

He goes off, but doesn't have a kill or anything.  I eventually find a black source and nearly go off with animate.  I kill him with creatures.

4-4

Round 4 against Jim Toltzman with U/R Landstill

I wreck him with creatures.

I wreck him with creatures.

6-4

Round 5 against (name?) with R/G Ponza

We ID

Round 6 against Jim Toltzman with U/r Landstill

I wreck him with creatures.

I wreck him with creatures.

8-4

Round 7 against Travis (Hopkins?) with Hulk

He gets me to 1 a turn before I'd kill him (I'm forced to chump block).  I'm nearly decked.  I'm going to attack for the kill the next turn, he Wishes for Firestorm and finishes me.

I race him with creatures (Wonder pwns).

I nearly race him.  I don't get enough threats, and Pyrostatic Pillar resolves.  He kills my Arrogant Wurm with Psychatog (it chumped) before I can get a Troll Ascetic chumping.  He was at 2 with 2 Pillars on the board.

9-6

I get 10 in store credit for top 4'ing.  Props go to Jason, Jon (Frost) (for lending me most of my deck, and all the random people who had Madness creatures, I have someone's Basking Rootwalla's, and I need to get them back to you.

My maindeck was supposed to have an Uktabi, but I forgot about it and had to settle for the Forest that had been holding its place.  A better Sideboard would have been

4 Pyrostatic Pillar
4 Red Elemental Blast
3 Ground Seal
2 Troll Ascetic
2 Null Rod

Congrats to Travis.  It was too bad that this tournament had to fall on Easter.  I wish I could have been there.  It would have been fun to play in this tournament.  Oh well, there's always next month...

oh, btw, how often are there type one tournaments at dreamers? I'm from st cloud and I want to play more type one and type one is pretty scarce here in st cloud.

There is a Type 1 Tournament every Friday Night, and the second Sunday of each month. The Sunday Tournament is usually for power, and the Friday Night tournaments are usually for store credit. All are sanctioned except the friday night tournament before the sunday tournament, in which there are unlimited proxies.

When I get back, I can get the website for you, but I'm not sure how up to date the calender is there.

waSP: Good job Smile. Did you give up on R/G Beatz Wink? Also, I'm just curious, what is the normal prize scheme for Sunday and Friday tournaments?

Congrats on the T8.

I haven't played there yet, but I should be there next month, playing Gay/r.

I haven't received any of the decklists from anyone, nor have I received news of the results of the finals match.

R/G Beatz is extremely bad in the metagame right now, losing to 70 or so percent of the decks there around 50 percent of the time.  When control makes a comeback, you'll likely see me pulling out my foil sets of things.

Friday tournaments are for store credit, with prizes given out based on attendance.

Sunday tournaments are always (except this one, because of Easter) for power.  The next one is going to be a Pearl or Ancestral, I believe.

Random TMD'ers that went should post reports.

Had a good day, I'll try to get Paul's list for you, he was my 8th with dragon.  The same for my friend Curt playing the green LD.  I'll post my own report as well.
