I'm assuming you mean Duplicant, because I couldn't find a card named Duplicate on my database :<

Imprint - When Duplicant comes into play, you may remove target nontoken creature from the game. (The removed card is imprinted on this artifact.) As long as a creature card is imprinted on Duplicant, Duplicant has that card's power, toughness, and creature types. It's still a Shapeshifter.

Duplicant copies the imprinted CARD, not the creature while It was in play. Hence, imprinting a Shapeshifter will make your Duplicant 0/1, whatever was the top card of your opponent's graveyard at that time. For similar reasons, imprinting a Broodstar will give you a 0/0 Duplicant and imprinting a Dryad on steroids will give you a 1/1 Duplicant.

For obvious reasons, next time please post the text of the cards you are referring to.
