Yesterday the monthly T1 tourney in Germany was held again and GermBus made 4 Top 8 finishes.

1. GermBus
2. Belcher
3. GAT
4. GermBus
5. Smmenenatog
6. GermBus
7. GermBus
8. UGr Madness

9. GermBus
10. GermBus

No. 4, 6, 7 and 9 are CAB Members.

The field was very, very control-orientied. About 10 GermBus (I had to play 3! Mirrors), many Landstill, some GAT, one Enslaver and one Hulk (Roy Thijsen).
The Rest was Sui Black and Gobbos in all varieties.

I hope Wompi will get the decklists and the Breakdown up as soon as possible.

Congratulations for another high team finish. Who won, and WTF did Roland Bode play?

... which goes to show that Exalted Angels are better than Goblins.  Razz

If your estimate of the number of Germbusses played is correct, then more than half of them appear to have placed in the Top 10, which is definitely a strong showing. Go Germbus!

It's more like CAB domination, if almost all the good players play the same deck, this is the result you can expect. I think GermBus is solid but like Rudy said, Tog is better. Too bad I couldn't go Sad

Congrats!

This makes me happy for 2 reasons:

1) Our hard work and collaboration paid off.

2) We did it without using a deck that throws its mirror to the mercy of the draw, has a rough time with Bazaar decks, Aggro-control (GAT and Fish), and FCG.

Hmm... so am I still calling it "Keeper" this month? Or is there some kind of mass-public pressure to rename the new Scrying/Angel variant distinct from previous incarnations of the deck?

Personally, I think the pros and cons are: (1) People understand that Keeper translates to "multi-color, recently nongreen, control with a draw engine centralizing on restricted spells and X-draw", whereas only the attentive student of TMD would necessarily know what "Germbus" is. (2) "Keeper" is such an antiquated name that it really has no specific meaning and doesn't tell much without a decklist attached.

It does make it difficult to determine what in fact is the best deck to play. However, can we assume to an extent that the best players will test and choose a deck they consider best for their meta? Why didn't any one of these guys play Tog?

On a sidenot6e, I think that Belcher taking second in a field full of control is quite impressive. I would love to see the list and -
Someone needs to write a primer on the deck. It keeps popping upin top eights for a reason. It is also played less than other combo decks. Its success cannot be attributed to a numbers game.

Dr. Sylvan - If it's not Keeper, I'm happy personally. Germbus is our cute name but 4cControl works too.

I tend to refer to it as "Germbus" to those who frequent here, but Germbus Keeper to everyone else.  It shares the same core that Keeper does, and is recognizeable as such.  If it's time to call Keeper something else, so be it, but that's what Germbus is.

@ Bebe:

The Belcher list was my from the March Dulmen with -1 Spoils +1 BS. But I'm not sure about the Sb.

Yes, you are absolutely right, Hulk would have been a much better metagame choice and we really wanted to play it, but I played GermBus for one and a half month and so I finally ignore all the upcoming mirros.

In the end I had to play 3 Mirrors(although I did not play it out against Carsten in the last round). My only loss in the tourney was caused by one of these mirros.

Tsss, guess what I was playing in the finals in Antwerp (versus you)?

Tog seems a better choice if you expect so many mirrors, but Germbus is better is some other matchups (like dragon)

Where's all the goddamn Workshops at? Paris had 24 in the top eight not two weeks ago.

This Duelmen: 0 workshops.
Last Duelmen: 5 workshops.

How erratic us Europeans are. Well, at least they won't get restricted if we keep this up Wink

The 4th place deck is only 59 cards, Time Walk is probably missing from the list....

What's with the Plaguebearers added as a 61st card?

Looks like nobody knows Wasteland was printed in 1997. :<

(Psst...they've been playing them for a while, even in Europe. See "Italians using Wasteland in Hulk", "Frenchies using Wastelands with Workshops", and "Germans being the ones who succeeded with Damping Matrix Keeper while no one else could".)

Also: Workshop was higher than ever in April, and I don't see any way they could justify hitting it even from that peak. There's simply much more dangerous cards in the color blue.

Let's not get too exalted.

Dozer

P.S.: Absolutely agreed on 4c Control. Now that Rakso has publicly(sp?) admitted that The Deck, i.e. Keeper, is out of date, a name change is more than appropriate, unless someone actually plays Elemental Augury again.

P.P.S.: @ Dr. Sylvan: The double post was completely unintended. Fixed.

I have just added the Walk to make the deck 60 cards, Wompatoad must have missed it somehow, since it was on my list for sure Wink

The Plaguebearer was mainly against the flood of Control-Slaver decks we expected because of Maxims really strong performance last Dülmen. (7-0 14-1)
Somehow most players didn't bother to copy another winning deck, so no Mindslavers were seen at the top tables.

I didn't play it, since I think it's really bad in most matchups and his place is, if it belongs in the deck at all, in the sideboard.
