I'm sure this has been asked 100 times but...

Here is my game senerio:

* My life total is at 1
* It is my opponents attack Phase
* He has 2 Quirion Dryads both at 3/3 in play.
* I have one Exalted Angel in play

After my opponent attacks me with the Dryads and I declare Angel blocking one of them. I die before the life gain effect takes place, right?  What does the stack look like?  I die do to a checking of the game status correct?

Thanks in advance....

Correct: you will die.

Declare Attackers Step: Both Drayds attack. Pass/pass.
Declare Blockers Step: You declare Angel as blocking one of them. Pass/pass
Combat Damage step: Damage goes on the stack - three on you, three on angel, four on dryad. Pass/pass. Damage resolves, putting you at -2, and putting lethal damage on a dryad. Now the angel triggers, and its ability goes on the stack. Now before the active player (the dryad player) gets priority, state-based effects are checked. They see a creature with lethal damage and a player who is not at least at one life, so both the creature and you die simultaneously, and the opponent wins before he even gets priority.

After damage is dealt, you life total is 0 or less.  When state-based effects are checked, you lose.

What does the stack look like?

This:

Nothing will be on the stack, as you will die before the Angel triggers even get put there. Razz

Thanks!  I knew that in my senerio I was dead but I wasn't exactly sure I had all of the mechanic worked out.

Interesting.  I never even thought of checking the game status before the Angel triggered.

The Angel actually did already trigger, when the damage was dealt.

However, triggers can't go on the stack until a player would recieve priority.

Before this happens, state-based effects are checked.  So, while the angel did trigger, the game ends before the trigger is placed on the stack.

10-4 Jebus.  That explaination actually helps out quite a bit (for other senerios).  Thanks again.
