The M.E.T.H.O.D. posted this in the community boards - I thought that it would be cool if we could have our say on this as well. So:

I thought It would be cool If we as a community looked at all our members, and voted members the best in a certain category or field.

Here are some categories I could think of. Please post your choices in the same category and if you have some good categories to add post them and Ill add them to my post. Try to explain some of your choices.

1. Best Writer

2. Best Poster

3. Most Sarcastic

4. Most Funniest

5. Best Deck Inovation

6. Most Hated Poster of The Year

7. Most Hated Writer of The Year

8. Best MTG Tournement of the Year

9. Worst MTG Tournement of the Year

10. Funniest AIM/IRC Quote

11. Funniest Post

12. Most likely to die in a blaze of gunfire because someone scuffed his shoes.

13. Pimpest Deck of the Year.

14. Biggest/Pimpest Collection of the Year.

15. Funniest Statement by a Moderator when editing Someone's Post.

16. The person who has played and talked about the same deck on TMD the longest.

16. Best T8 deck in a European Tournement.

17. The three people that are so important to TMD that it would collapse without them.

18. The person with the most memberships to different TMD teams.

19 The "What ever happened to (Person)" award.

20. Worst Deck Innovation

And my answers:

1. Smmenen - his articles have been exceptional throughout, with his analysis of Long and (more recently) the current metagame particularly good. Second is Ric_Flair for his open letters - very readable and a solid point of view on important issues. Carl would be right up there if he wrote more often.

2. Matt. He only seems to deal in one-liners, but they're damn good ones.

3. Matt.

4. Funniest would have to be one of Matt, Kerz, and Kl0wn.

5. Probably Slaver, as I'm using a 12-month time span for this.

6. Probably rancor. And several others I can think of. At least people should spout their crap in grammatically correct fashion.

7. Probably Ben Bleiweiss now, after this week.

8/9. Haven't been to one this year (I'm across the pond...sod-all tournament T1 there)

10. Not sure...bound to be one in Dr. Sylvan's sig link or the AIM thread.

11. Definitely this one:

Smmenen (talking about 5D): Basically, I want another Invasion.
Bram: That's what the French have been saying for 50 years.

12. Not sure - not entirely sure what you're after.

13/14. SamiteHealer's decks.

15. If it was this year, then Matt's famous "chimpanzee" edit has to be there somewhere. JP had a good one where he eradicated someone's post and said something like "Hello my name is ______. What I just said was completely useless and I promise not to waste everyone's time by writing this crap ever again".

16. Not sure. There HAVE been a lot of European tourneys...AH. Got it.

White Weenie.

(I assume this was the point of this question?)

17. Smmenen, JP, and Matt (for the massive amount of moderation they do, as well as the huge contributions).

18. Carl, I'd guess.

19. Legend, and AZHREI.

20. Sui Black in all its infectious strains.

EDIT: Shit - just seen there were two number 16s. The other 16 would have to be Smmenen with whatever deck is in vogue at the time - probably talked for longest, appropriately enough, about Long.dec.

Razz.  Nice how you leave out Zherbus for #17.  And is Sui Black worse than ICT?  Now there's a question.  I'll put this in a poll in the Sui Black forum.

Good point. As in the other thread, Zherbus is assumed to be there under any and all circumstances.

ICT hasn't featured this year. Although Miser might fit into the longest time spent on a deck.

I have just one question about this: why are there TMD awards for 2004 when we are 5 months in?!?!?

I will take it to mean TMD awards since the site went up 2 years ago...

1. Best Writer - Smemen.  No question, the most insightful strategy articles around.  Thanks Steve!

2. Best Poster - JP.  When he decides to post something useful, he has better things to say than anyone else on the site.

3. Most Sarcastic - JP.  When he doesn't want to be useful, he is funny as hell.

4. Most Funniest - Matt.

5. Best Deck Inovation - Mad Dragon.

6. Most Hated Poster of The Year - anyone ripping Zherbus / mods.

7. Most Hated Writer of The Year - I didn't read more than a paragraph of bad articles this year - so I don't remember the author.

8. Best MTG Tournement of the Year - CrazyCarl's gencon last summer.

9. Worst MTG Tournement of the Year - San Diego T1 PT event with 13 people.

10/11. Funniest AIM/IRC Quote / Funniest Post / Funniest line
JP: And Now, Some Arbitrary Lists To Cause Senseless Bickering...

12. Most likely to die in a blaze of gunfire because someone scuffed his shoes. ?

13. Pimpest Deck of the Year.  JACO's.

14. Biggest/Pimpest Collection of the Year.  Samite Healer.

15. Funniest Statement by a Moderator when editing Someone's Post.  Something by Matt.

16a. The person who has played and talked about the same deck on TMD the longest.  DicemanX, Hyperion, or PTW.  (dragon, madness, and fish)

16b. Best T8 deck in a European Tournement. Anything with wastelands.

17. The three people that are so important to TMD that it would collapse without them.  Zherbus, Smemen, and JP.

18. The person with the most memberships to different TMD teams.  who cares?

19 The "What ever happened to (Person)" award.  Zoneseek (and his sig)

20. Worst Deck Innovation - swamps.

21. Special Mention: Ric Flair - always has insightful well thought out posts - definately adds a lot to the community.

1. Best Writer: Menendian. I think this is hands down. Sylvan and Ric Flair are close, although Ric's posting is so rare.
2. Best Poster: Dicemanx. I think that everyone of his posts/statements is a bit of wisdom.
3. Most Sarcastic: JP. Another easy one.
4. Most Funniest: "Most funniest" sounds wrong. Funniest would be more accurate. And there's a bunch.
5. Best Deck Inovation: Slavery was pretty fun.
6. Most Hated Poster of The Year: This is a can of wurms... Bah.
7. Most Hated Writer of The Year: All those that want to restrict Workshop or Bazaar. And their arguments.
8. Best MTG Tournement of the Year: Hopefully Gencon this year.
9. Worst MTG Tournement of the Year: Hopefully not Gencon.
10. Funniest AIM/IRC Quote: Um... no comment, but probably something by wu.
11. Funniest Post: No idea.
12. Most likely to die in a blaze of gunfire because someone scuffed his shoes.: Me. Believe me on this one.
13. Pimpest Deck of the Year: I think it's the mono-AQ deck that Legend produced. That was beyond pimp.
14. Biggest/Pimpest Collection of the Year: Not sure if he's here, but Irish31's. I got tired reading the P9 he had... Sad
15. Funniest Statement by a Moderator when editing Someone's Post: "Please not again."
16. The person who has played and talked about the same deck on TMD the longest: Rakso with Keeper variants.
16. Best T8 deck in a European Tournement: TnT. I don't care that it's weak now, still the best deck over in Europe.
17. The three people that are so important to TMD that it would collapse without them: This is the stupidest question, I am sorry. I think it can survive without anyone in particular. I would be sad to see a few of the people go, but no one on this site is irreplaceable, or expendable. It's a community more than a person now.
18. The person with the most memberships to different TMD teams: No idea.
19. The "What ever happened to (Person)" award: I think Raph Caron is MIA for now.
20. Worst Deck Innovation: Show and Tell. Ugh...

Check Hyperion's sig for a reference as to why I veto your vote.  ill_dawg has an additional three or four months advocating that deck under his belt, since he invented it.

Though, I'm glad Hyperion has enough of a sense of humor to sig that shit instead of PM me and bitch.  Hats off to him for that.

I only got mentioned in the real thread, so I might as well nominate myself for EVERY SINGLE question here. I am BY FAR the best deck to make a european T8.
