okay, my question is, if i Meddling Mage the dragon, can an animate enchant. the dragon and bring it into play since it's not being played by a player?

i'm trying to contemplate Mage versus Prodigy in my fish deck...

Meddling Mage only stops the named card from being played. It doesn't stop Animate Dead or Illusionary Mask or anything else that puts a card into play.

Unless ofcourse, you would actually name Animate Dead or Illusionary Mask.
