This Saturday, 7/31, there will be a 5-proxy Type One tournament with  a prize structure of:

1st Prize: $500 cash
2nd Prize: $250 cash
3rd & 4th: $75 cash each

This is the prize structure provided a 50 person turnout. Generally the store owner is pretty good about giving 100% of the entry fees to the prize pool if fewer than 50 show. Every tournament in the past there have been door prizes as well as free pizza. I'm almost positive the store owner told me there would be a total of $1000 in prizes, but the numbers provided above obviously only add to $900; 5th-8th probably get their entry fee back.

PRE-REGISTER NOW! $20 entry fee. Entry the day of the tourney is $25.

Proxies should be clearly marked/legible, and if they are written they MUST be on the front of the card. No paper/glue allowed.

Deck Registration is required- bring it printed out beforehand- I'd recommend this rather than filling out a written sheet hastily, plus we'll be able to get the tourney rolling more quickly.

Typically the tournaments start at 3 PM. I'm not sure as I haven't been there in months, so I'm going to call them today to get some concrete answers. Until then and for directions, you can view the store's website here:

Though 500 is based on 50 attendance, which will most likely not be met, I will be there as well.

Yeah, I've already accepted the fact that there is absolutely NO WAY that the Cape will meet its 50 goal. They give out all entrance fees in cash, so it will still be for a decent amount. I'd put this tourney on 25-30 people, so still the size of the average power tourney, and a great time.

Go bloody figure.

The first time I can't be there and people might actually show up.

Well, good luck to everyone anyway.

That makes sense, seeing as you've won so many tournaments before.

Oh wait, nevermind

Tourny was a good turnout with 30 players.
Top 4 was Rich Shay (the atog lord), Eric dupuis (ELD), Aaron Kerzner (Kerzkid), and Pat Broderick from Brockton.  Rich, Eric, and Pat all piloted control slaver, and Aaron had 4 cc control.  I played the same deck as Aaron and lost to him in the t8, I went 3-0-2 in swiss.  In game 3 3rd turn morphed angel was pretty rough on me because I kept a 3 waste hand, but he played 2 fetches turns 1 and 2, with drain and FoW back up.  They were some crazy games.  I will have a report coming soon.   Very good tournament.  The player quality was high.

This was a very fun, well-run event.

Thanks to the store for holding the tournament for us, since traffic was so bad. Thanks for Matrix for being a great driver. And props to Control Slaver for putting three people into top four.

Oh, and obv: Props for Kowal for running Trix. How could I forget?

Kerz- I'm still missing the part that says you won.

You didn't even play to the top2?  How can you call that winning

It's not so much that Kerz won, just that he did as well as possible.  Besides, at the end of the day, we play magic.  In that respect, there really are no winners.
