Post whatever you know or found out.
As of this posting, round 7 (of 8) will be starting shortly. Meandeck is in first (Smmenen with mono-blue) and second (CH4IN5 with Workshop Prison) right now.
There are about 150 people playing.

All this information is being relayed to me by Hill Redwine who is at Gen Con and watching the Top 8 as it happens so try to bear with me.
Top 8 Match Ups:
Steve Menendian (Mono-Blue) vs David Allen (Aggro-Workshop)
Kevin Cron (Trinistax) vs Windfall (Control Slaver)
Akuma (The Man Show) vs ??? (Fish)
??? (TnT) vs. ??? (Belcher)
Smmenen has been eliminated by David Allen in two games.
David Allen has started the Semi-final match up vs. the Belcher deck which made quick work of his Top 8 opponent.

Edit: Updated the names of the players.

The Control Slaver player vs. Cron is Windfall on TMD.

From the email terminal at gencon, you can read what i played here: http://www.starcitygames.com/php/news/expandnews.php?Article=7927I was the only X-0 after round six and conceded round 7 to my teammate kevin to gaurantee him top 8 as I could draw in. I lost to David Allen in a very interesting top 8 match that I'll talk much about later. As I write, Kevin is in game three with Windfall and David Allen has cleaned up his bracket. Steve

Mike B (Windfall) has defeated Kevin Cron (CHAIN5) in three games of their Top 8 Match up. CHAIN5 mulled to 5 in game 3. Windfall tinkered out a Pentavus and kept CHAIN5 from getting anything going with the help of a 1st turn Duress taking Wheel of Fortune, and Force on CHAIN5 Tinker, and a Mana Drain to counter his Welder.
Windfall will face Akuma playing the Man Show in the Semifinals.
EDIT: Updated with the name of the person playing the Man Show.

Windfall (Control Slaver) has taken game 1 of the Semifinal Match vs. Akuma (The Man Show). Akuma scooped after Windfall played Thirst for Knowledge discarding a Mind Slaver into the graveyard the turn after a huge Yawgmoth's Will.

Windfall has defeated Akuma in two games in their Semifinal match.
Windfall (Control Slaver) will now face Thorme (Aggro Workshop) for all the marbles.
Stay tuned.

Windfall has taken game one of the finals over Thorme.
In a possible rules snafu in game one Thorme tinkered into Duplicant targeting Windfall's 5/5 Pentavus. Windfall responded by making 2 Pentavite tokens and they resolved the Duplicant as a 3/3. I was always under the understanding that Duplicant only looked at the power/toughness in the lower right corner of a card not any counters that modified those numbers.

The [card]Duplicant[/card] looks at the card as it exists in the Removed From Game zone.
If Duplicant imprints a [card]Pentavus[/card], it becomes a 0/0 and goes to the graveyard.

Truth be told, I would have been happy with either of those decks winning. But Control Slaver is really a disgusting deck that doesn't get the recognition it deserves. Case in point: "How Would You Rank the Top 3 Control Decks?"Really, only ONE person even mentioned Control Slaver here...the rest ranked 4CC, Hulk, and even LANDSTILL over it!! Widespread dismissal of such a powerful deck is bound to deliver results like what we saw. That, and Control Slaver really was the perfect deck for that T8 bracket because I know from personal experience that it cleans up against Workshop like few other decks. Congratulations WINDFALL !!!!

I've been saying Control Slaver is the best deck in the format for the last 2 months or so. The deck was so solid over the course of my last 3 weeks playing Magic. Sadly I have a job now or I would have been playing Control Slaver at Gencon. With my list, I either won or split in the finals 14 tournaments in a row, including the mox pearl tourney in NH and the Cash tournament at the Cape. I honestly think it is the best deck, no question. I can't wait to see what Windfall's list looked like. The last time I saw this kind of mass misunderstanding of how good a deck was is the early days of super gro. I was going to post a report talking about how much of a conspiracy it is with TMD pushing 4cc and Fish like they are playable, but I'll save that for another day. Oh yeah, and congrats to everyone who made it down to Gencon. Showing that kind of support for the format we love can only lead to good things.

Congratulations, Windfall, for winning, and double congrats for doing so with Control Slaver.
I am very disappointed not to have been at Gencon with my own Control Slaver deck. Unfortunately, I had to cancel my plans to attend recently due to pressing business matters at work.

I got the booby prize for finishing 9th. Then again I had two losses (I was the top 6-2), so that's to be expected.
Funny thing is, Windfall had the worst tiebreakers among the 6-1-1 players. There were two other 5-1-1 players who ended up drawing due to time in game 3 of the last round and ending up 5-1-2. If either player won, they would have bumped him out.....funny though, when I watched the two guys draw on time to end up 5-1-2 (17 pts), I got a last ditch hope I might make top 8 as the top 6-2.
nice job to all top 8'ers, everyone that high had to play strong for many hours to get that far.

Didn't even need to use the Stifles. yah, the first game was 3 wastes in 10 cards...but that's why we play them. I had a good hand with dragon, squee, two bazaars, but couldn't find an animate. I kept the hand because the animates are the easiest to draw into. Both games I was 1 mana away from going off (with FoW backup in both i believe), but denying mana is Fish's game. Mulliganing both games hurt too...

Here's a small update as to the Top 8 decks: Gio (Akuma on TMD) from LA (one of two players from Team BHWC in attendance) wasn't playing The Man Show, he was playing a straight Black/Red (no blue, white, or green) deck that was basically the TnT skeleton, minus the green for Survivals, but with main deck Chains of Mephistopheles and Blood Moon instead. He piloted this to Top 4
Nick Trudeau (nickvos on TMD) from San Diego, and the other attending member of Team BHWC (Bitches&HoesWestCoast), piloted the red/green TnT deck I designed for him (TTTnC - Trinispheres, Tools, Tubbies, 'n' Crucibles) to Top 8. The deck and sideboard were teched out for the meta, and he went undefeated in the swiss (6-0-2), beating at least one Mean Deck member (Joe Bushman) that I know of. Had he gone first against his first round opponent in the Top 8 (Belcher), he would have at least won the first game; but as luck had it, he lost the die roll and lost the game on the second turn, ready to cast Trinisphere the next turn. I'm sure his report will be coming soon.
