Well, I moved to St. Petersburg, Russia, and I know we're a pretty international crowd, so are there any Russian magic players? I didn't bring anything really Type 1 with me, mainly looking to buy into some casual play. If there's anybody out there, give me a holler. thanx, defector

To be honest, I don't have a very good reason for coming. I was living in Minnesota and felt like I needed a big change, which I've gotten. I miss my magic cards though, I thought 4 pieces of power, 4 drains, and 4 workshops were not safe in a Russian dorm, so they are with a friend of mine back home. Now neat new mechainics are coming out and I'm conjugating verbs instead of playing hot cards, oh well. defector

Russia rules. I'd move there if I could, and had the dedication to learn Russian. How confusing can one language be?

Russia rules from what I hear. I took russian as a foreign language in high school it was really awesome. Over all its not too difficult to learn just 33 lettersin all. But, the culture is amazing as is the food. Good luck man in the sister city to binghamton new york.

Good luck man in the sister city to binghamton new york. WTF? We have a sister city? And that sister city is Russia? I thought that if anything, our sister city would be Shantytown. Our TWIN sister city.

My friend Chani went to school in Bingamton NY, I had no idea they were sister cities with a place in Russia. The langauge is more challenging that I expected, they use six cases in Russian. The sounds are a little different as well, so far I can buy milk, cigarettes, beer, and I guess thats all you need to survive anyway. The culture is pretty wild, the girls here dress like they're ready for armageddon, clear shirts, really tight clothes, its a bit of a distraction. I'm on an island in the city of St. Petersburg, very far north, but winter hasn't started here yet, so far theleaves are just starting to change. Anyway, gotta run. defector

And what's more, unlike Vintage, the beer, the smokes, and even the women there are CHEAP! Good call. That is why I haven't pulled my cards out of their binders. I could A. sit in a hot stinky room with all men playing for a small prize or B. go out and "sample" Europe. While Vienna isn't cheap and doesn't have the quality of babes that a lot of Eastern countries do it is still a sweet place. Oh and becareful of Russian women, you may be married if you aren't. Yeah getting married in russia would be a problem for sure. Because then I would have to bring her back here and trade her to some newb who doesnt know about cheap russian women for my black lotus back. The whole trip would be a mess, and a very hung over, dirty, and divorced EITD would be no further along than he is now.
All things considered, I think I will stay out of russia. I could just as easily drive to ohio, find cheap beer, cigarettes and women there, and not have to sell my lotus at all.
EITD
BTW Good Luck guy that moved to russia.

Speaking as an Ohio native, yes many girls here are larger than elsewhere. This is due to the fact that the fine culinary establishment known as Wendy's, which Ohio is home to, is open as late as can be, serving greasy sandwiches to all. Also, the drug of choice in ohio so far as I know is still weed, which leads to fat girls getting the munchies and eating even more.

Hey I know all about the fat chicks... and they got Wendy's all over Michigan too. And I know there are way more chicks that smoke weed and eat a mass of greasy fast food larger than my head multiple times a day, but the cost of feeding those particular chicks is more than moving to russia, buying vodka, getting it on with a russian chick, ending up married, getting a disease, and returning home. But I am not talking about the fat chicks. I am talking about the crack whores. EITD.

Do I dare bring up the point that to reap the benefits of living in Russia, one would actually have to live in Russia? That's a sacrifice I'm certainly not willing to make, and my penis will just have to understand why he's not getting cold, fishy, can't dance Russian poon.

Russia is not full of white people, there are a ridiculous amount of asians here as well. Some like what your used to Korean, Japan, Chineses and some that you maybe haven't seen before Centrals asians, Kazakh, Irkutski(?), and some others that I dare not even try to spell. There are a few africans here as well because the soviet gov was friendly with ethiopia for some cold war reason. It's a diverse country by any standard other than the US which is global melting pot. Anyway, that's all about that. Russian vodka is worth the trip alone, although drinking it startight glass after glass requires some discipline. I like the girls better than the boys here, much like anywhere. The girls are harder to approach, as you'd expect. I have a few sort of friends right now that are female. The two guys I've made friends with got drunk with me last night and offered in a very friendly fashion to scar me for life with some Russian symbols. Here they do this ritualized cutting scarring thing instead of tattoos. I have a tattoo, but decided not to get scarred. They looked at me dissapointed, "Amerikanski, if you ever change your heart, we will cut you immediately, just let us know." That was "friendly", or something. I will probably go to Helsinki in december for x-mas holiday, so any Finnlandia folk, let me know. All my cards are in US, but any play would be nice. thanx defector

"Amerikanski, if you ever change your heart, we will cut you immediately, just let us know." That was "friendly", or something. Hey, if you cant let your friends carve you up like some overcooked holiday meal, at least enjoy the vodka. So if you agreed were they going to do it with a rusty straightrazor left over from the Cold War? You could write an article and submit it to SCG... "Rusty Razors and Drunk Russian Girls... A life away from my Cards" You get fifty bucks and buy some Invasion and Planeshift preconstructed decks. EITD

As far as I've heard, the Magic players over in St. Petersburg pretty much only play Standard. One guy from there comes down to Helsinki every now and then and he told me that if you ever find cards that aren't in the Type 2 card pool in Russia, they go for pretty cheap (duals, etc.) That means both selling and trading (in other words, you can trade away type 2 stuff easily for type 1 stuff). Sounds pretty interesting. Apparently there is a half decent store there somewhere where all the players hang out. I'd check it out if you have a chance, if only to get in on the cheap cards.
