They're from Player Rewards if I'm not mistaken. We haven't seen a foil gold card with the new border, and I think it looks pretty dern cool.
Edit: and the textless Terror card is awesome! I really hope they do this with a lot of the more iconic staple cards, like Disenchant, Lightning Bolt, maybe Counterspell, etc!

Hey Kerz, you gonna get these all marked up or what?

I like it, a lot.  I might actually want some, and I detest foils.

No, no that's not pretty badass.  It's pretty fucking ugly.  The new gold border is hideous, and foiling it serves only to make it more garish than just about anything I've ever seen.  I much prefer my originals, even non-foiled.

Klep, I don't know what you're talking about.  Every morning when I wake up, the first thing on my mind is "I wish my bad cards looked more like fresh piss."

Keep up the good work, WOTC!

I really like the new textless promos.  I got a textless Terror today and it looks sweet.

I just wish I could put it in a deck. Sad

However, new textless promos are comming, so I'd suspect we might get some more playable cards.

Probably the worst thing about the card is its direct association with the Damnable Cycle of Incompetence by having the defiling logo on two parts of the card.

They're probably reprinting it in 9th edition as a rare.

Seriously, though, this thing is butt-ugly.  As are all new-face cards.

Pretty damn expensive, though.

yay me Very Happy
i've got one interesting observation about the spirit token on the rarities forum though
if you're playing with forbidden orchard, and get the token to use with it, isn't that like, really stupid?

The DCI is awesome, it's just that putting any kind of logo on cards is pretty ugly. I know I didn't even like the shooting star for foils.

I'm a long time hater of everything foil...  The new tog is no exception.

The new terror looks somewhat interresting though.   I'd still rather have a beta one if I ever used one.

I seconded the above...

Foil = noob lure
The only foils I can actually tolerate are when the foil makes the art more interesting. The more interesting looking foils are usually lands or junk rares such as Timesifter.
The only thing I hate more then foils are foreign language cards. D00z its soo 31337 a card I can't read!

Alpha > Beta > Original Print / Sweet Art

I can't count the amount of times I played different art of dark ritual and players pick it up to comment on the art because the never bothered to check out all ritual art.

This is the reason why when I use foreign language cards, I almost always use German cards. Since I read/speak German, I'm fully aware of what my cards say. Granted, this doesn't help my opponent unless he or she trusts me, but since I'm friends with many of the players around here, that's seldom an issue.

Did you know that Red is the color or art and music and passion? Combine that with Green, the color of nature, spiritualism, and community and you get a hippie commune of drum circles, dreamcatchers, and recreational drug use. Let's see that win a Pro Tour.

So you use the fact that your opponent can not read your cards to your advantage? Thats pretty cold, but hey its legal.

That is the reason why I dislike foreign cards. I find it very pompus to assume that your opponent should know the text on every card. I feel this discourages new players in Vintage. Another problem is that a player with foreign cards does not equal a player that actually knows the cards or a player who will honestly translate a card.

At least once every event I attend an opponent makes some type of play error about a card or "accidently" misrepresents the text on a card. With foreign cards this only makes the problem worse.

If I win or lose a match I want it to be fair, not because someone didn't understand a rule or could not read a card.

If you don't know what your opponent's cards say, you are probably beating their shitty deck.

If at any time you do not understand a card, you have an obligation to call a judge.  Any other response is just fucking stupid and you deserve to lose.

I would have to say sole jackass blame is place on the player with the "31337 d00d" foreign card deck. He is the one slowing down the game and keeping the judge busy due to his cards. It plain annoying and arrogant. Most Vintage events are all ready short qualified judges, there is no need to clog them up at an event or give them more room to make bad decisions. When I go to events, I just would once like to prove my point and be a total dickhead calling the judge for a oracle translation every time a foreign card hits the table to prove my point.

I also forgot the other reason for foreign cards... CHEAP. I wish someone would toss all italian legends into a fire pit somewhere. Unless italian is you native language, cough up the extra money for the real card.

Your argument totally falls apart for quite a few reasons.  The biggest are:

1) If you can't read my Tinker, sit tight, you'll be out of my bracket in a minute.

2) English cards don't always do what they say either.  Look at Illusionary Mask or Chains of Mephistopheles.

As a player it is your responsibility to be aware of the game state.  If that involves calling a judge, then do it.  If you lose significant time from "slowing the game down" you will be given a time extension.

Hilariously, if you're the one being an asshole about my foreign cards, you're the one getting in trouble for unsportsmanlike conduct.  Learn to deal with it and quit whining.

I would say many people including myself have learned to deal with it well. Trade the little kids there shiny foils and foreign cards that make them feel cool, it nets me great cards in return. The chase for foils/foreign cards keep the prices of english card staples down.

Sorry for hijack of the original thread, I will try and keep my rants on subject next time.
