I still think there is room for innovation is the current 3cb, and even more so if you unban the Lotus. Why not try out an unbanned lotus week as one of the special formats? That way you'll get to see what problems arise if you unban it, etc. Also, it wouldn't be too much trouble to ban any doubel discard on the first turn card, which works well over at news.

Well, the half-way point is upon us again, and this time there's no need for second decks. If you haven't entered yet, please do so!
I think that the next tournament will be OD/ON/MR blocks, with 7th+8th ed allowed in each case. I'll revisit some of the older formats, I think, for the next special tournament.

Just those three blocks, or is Kamigawa allowed too?
That format will be a bugger, actually - what land is there that makes >1 mana? And please, PLEASE don't say "Temple of the False God", or I will have to shoot someone.

What about any land (maybe only lands that don't have stupid abilities like Glacial Chasm, The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale, and Rishadan Port) and possibly some of the mana producing artifacts in addition to the cards in those sets? That would allow for more diversity in the decks while keeping the block/T2 aspect.

What about those blocks plus the storage lands?
Oh, [card]Shadowblood Ridge[/card] adds 2 mana, yes?
I quite like this block selection.

Well, there's always the urzatron... Tom That's even more helpful. I think that format may well not work, to be honest; EVERYONE will play City of Brass/Oxidise/1-mana threat, or they'll play land/Aether Vial/bigger threat. There's almost nothing else, unless someone makes Basking Rootwalla and another threat work. I haven't checked the set listings, but I can't think of anything else good.

I disagree - I think you've missed a few ways of getting greater than 1 mana here... Cloudpost can get you to 4 mana if you can come up with something good to cast, and the base sets provide some 1cc mana-producing cards to play with. The format may turn out to suck after 1 tournament, but let's play it once to find out.

I disagree...
I think the storage lands should be allowed to take better advantage of the set's possabilities. Plus, it's always more fun to see fat and other larger creatures.
If storage lands are deemed to powerful, then let's at least allow the CITP that produce two of each color lands, (I think there's 10 of em). Diversity is fun and limiting such a large portion of the block ruins that.

I concur. Storage lands will almost certainly be legal.

The format may turn out to suck after 1 tournament, but let's play it once to find out. Unfortunately, you've missed the point. Same with Shadowblood Ridge et alia - you need more than one land to make it work. To play in this format, especially without Mishra's Factory or the Urza manlands, you'll need two threats, a threat and a removal spell, or a threat with a combo enabler such as Aether Vial. Oh, another possible archetype is Blinkmoth Nexus.dec - but it probably sucks without a way of attaching Cranial Plating effectively.
