The end of turn trigger won't cause you to lose the game, since the effect that keeps you from losing still exists.

Second Chance can't be countered by spells or abilities.

Really, I don' think you need the clause that causes you to lose the game at the end of turn. If your opponent has created a condition in which you will lose, you will probably lose as soon as somebody would get priority on the following turn, anyhow. If you've managed to use this card to give yourself an opportunity to reverse the situation, then it is actually meaningful as a second chance. If, as a result of having cast this (and subsequent spells), you are no longer in mortal danger, then you've made good use of your second chance.

I was just trying to fix the effect, however I really think that Ephraim is definitely right. There is no really need for such an effect to balance the card.

This name is fine. Kind of underpowered, though, since it won't stop you from losing to have your life be 1 or less. What if you added "At end of turn, if your life total is less than 1, it becomes 1."

Ok, since this may be too underpowered, there is two routes we can take to make this more playable

1

Gift of Life
{2}{W}
Instant
Gift of Life cannot be countered.
Until the end of your next turn, you cannot lose the game and your opponent cannot win the game.
At the end of your next turn, if you have zero life or less, you have one life instead.  If you have ten or more poison counters, you have nine poison counters instead.

2

lower the mana cost to {1}{W}

Since our set is going to be about poison, I don't think it would make sense that this thing gave you life back, but didn't unpoison you.

Just because the set has some poison cards doesn't mean that every card should be shaped around that. This card doesn't need the unpoisoning to work, and we shouldn't tack it on just because we can.

I know this won't happen in a tournament, but if my opponent has Chaos Orb in his hand while I'm controlling his turn from a Mindslaver, who flips the card if I force him to play it and activate it?

It's also not a given that the poison set will ever actually take off, since the mechanic IS fairly limited (though less than I once thought) and anyway we might want to put this in another, non-poison, set.
