I'm heading out for the weekend early tomorrow morning so just one big topic for the weekend.  What is your ideal first pick to build your deck around?  I would say Orrery is my choice since it allows you to break one of the fundamental rules of the format.

Chainer, it ALSO breaks a fundamental rule, but is more inheretly broken, IMO. When you have chainer out, you have a large control on the game state... what people will play and how others respond is greatly affected, rather than orrey's effect. I think this is just an argument over which is "the best card in t4" though.

But Nezumi Graverobber, which I think might be my first pick, is just ridiculously better.

Nezumi Graverobber.  It's like chainer, but on crack.

If we're playing off The Brass Man's stack, Staff of Domination is pretty retarded.

Assuming those are both too powerful, I'm all about Holistic Wisdom.

Survival of the Fittest. You will eventually get a reanimator to get your pwn on with.

[EDIT]

... with which to get your pwn on. (editing sentences with slang for grammar=tech=domain dragon from Invasion Block).

Big fan of Tower of Fortunes. The problem in T4 is that you only get 1 card a turn to answer the possibility of 4-5 people's threats. If you draw a grip every turn, you have an incredible advantage.

Recently I towered into Quicksilver Amulet. I dropped it, then dropped Timmy EOT. Out came 16 creatures from my hand. Tower is, IMO, on par with Orerry, which is often to big of a target to stay around.

I happen to like Orerry an aweful lot.   I like Decree of Annihalation too, because i like to say "look, we're all in topdecking mode with no chance of a living death saving us"

Orrery, as you said, it breaks a fundamental rule. (Followed closely by Mist Dragon, since it basically doesn't die, ever).

That's right:  the Mist is actually invulnerable.  Smile

On topic:  I'm surprised no one has mention Acquire.  Acquire is Orrery/Slaver/Memmnarch/Tower/Fang/Lamp/Flute/Portal/Orb.
