Is Richard Garfield, Phd too good for conventional type 4 stacks?
I would vote no, but with special house rules banning firebreathers or one card infinite engines from being played w/ Garfield.

Everyone else should have the option of unanimously vetoing any card choice. If even one other person allows it, though, then it happens.
That seems like the fairest solution to me.

If you're worried about it, just ban the ability to name firebreathers.
Honestly, I have enough removal that firebreathers don't really worry me. I just think that someone will do the reason I don't enjoy mental magic as much as I should-- They'll spend like three minutes trying to think of the best card they can, and it'll completely detract from the fast pace type four is supposed to have.
That said, I think I'll still give him a test drive.

In 5-Color, Wishes cannot get any card that is illegal in the format or would make your deck illegal. I think the same sort of ruling applies here. If a card wouldn't normally be allowed in T4, you can't name it. I'd also say that you can't play a card that's already in the deck, but that's a little more debatable.
