[Announcement] Richmond,VA Dec 4th 10prxy Itl. Mana Drain!

Team Shortbus is proud to invite everyone in the area to our first Type 1 tournament! 1PM on December 4th at Shardz gaming center in Atlee Virginia.  You can find directions at Shardz.net

I'll be putting up an Italian Mana Drain for first place, and that prize is guaranteed regardless of turnout. Additional prizes will be provided based on turnout, from Dual Lands, to Packs of Italian Legends, to a Mox.

An amazingly low 10 dollars is the entry fee, and you're allowed 10 proxies.  (Sharpies on basic lands please).    I'll be judging the event myself (DCI level 2 judge) and running it at REL 3.  

We're hoping to grow our tournament scene in Virginia with good prizes and low entry fees, so if that sounds good to you, then please spread the word!

Any suggestions on other prizes? if we get a huge turnout obviously I can up the drain to a workshop or mox.. but assuming its smaller, what kind of secondary prizes would you find most appealing?

There is no mailing list for Type 1 here, but most of the guys read the drain and probably know about this.  I kinda doubt any of them will be going though, because our stagnant meta has made everyone bored of type 1 for the time being.  Sadly, I will almost certainly be unable to make it because school got crazy for the last couple of weeks.  If it was next weekend I'd be all for it, but as it is I have to use this weekend for a project.

are there also other t1 meccas in virginia?  I also am from blacksburg, albeit have not played in a few months and was planning on doing something similar a few months back.  same sorta tournament, same price, and same prize in october.  our metagame is rather small, so i did not expect a large turnout either, save enough to break even on the drain and bring more good cards to our area.  i already realize that this is resurrecting a dead topic, but want to start possibly doing something like this locally through our roleplayer's club with virginia tech.  i am not a store owner of any sort, but want to get more people interested in our magic tournament scene so that they would not have to face a potential 4-5 hour drive to the other side of the state for the same sorta prize
