From a design or flavor standpoint (not power or tournament worthiness), what is your favorite card? What about it do you think is particuarly cool or interesting?
I'm a big fan of Fact or Fiction. When you separate, you really have to get inside the mind of the other player and outthink him. And when you select which pile to take, you have to figure out what your opponent thinks and why he separated them as he did. I've seen a good 10 minutes spent separating and choosing the piles during the resolution of Fact or Fiction. More interaction takes place between two players when Fact or Fiction resolves than nearly any other moment in Magic.
Oh, and it's got a cool name too.

I'm a flavour junkie, so Severed Legion is the perfect card, in my opinion. Although it is probably not tournament worthy, nor is it a bad card. Further, the name and the artwork are supremely black in flavour. The artwork definitely conveys the image created by the name and the entire flavour of the card feels well-matched to a 2/2 creature with fear.

Did you know that Red is the color or art and music and passion? Combine that with Green, the color of nature, spiritualism, and community and you get a hippie commune of drum circles, dreamcatchers, and recreational drug use. Let's see that win a Pro Tour.

I loved that card when it was back in Standard. And man oh man was it good in Limited, too.

The card is so fun and usually a total surprise. Also it does something that no other card has ever done.

Nevinyrral's Disk.
Even though I tend not to like cards that "belong" to someone / something else (for example, this being named after Larry Nevin), it rules.
I wouldn't feel right playing without the ultimate reset switch.

AEther Spellbomb, it's the bomb.
I mean, this thing has such utility and is priced-to-own. A single mana drops that bad mother and it can sit there as long as you want. I felt so validated when I saw this guy showing up in Control Slaver lists.

Orims chant. It's like a timewalk. It can force spells through any wall of counters. ON isochron scepter its a nice lil lockdown. It stops attackers from ravaging you. and all for 1-2 mana. Best card ever.

Underworld Dreams....its been my favorite card since I first saw it the first time I went to a card shop. And I was able to run my 3 English copies in the SB of my MBC deck at '03 Virginia States when I finished top 4...and it didn't stink.

Scronful Egotist hands down its the coolest card I've ever messed with. I made a causal deck that uses and abuses its powers. The coolest 1/1 in magic and converted highest mana costing 1/1 i think of all time.

My favorite card (other than Black Lotus/Force of Will, etc) has got to be...
MESMERIC ORB!!!
I love unleashing this monstrosity on people. For those unfamilliar, anytime anyone untaps anything for any reason, they mill themselves. I have won games by simply getting this bad boy on the board!
Granted, I play with plenty of Gaea's Blessings and laugh my way through each round.
The Mesmeric Orb, though only a year old, has made people just not want to do stuff. They CAN do stuff. Mesmeric Orb does not prevent them, but if you get TWO of those suckers on the board? It is HILARIOUS watching people watch their entire deck go the the graveyard, without crazy broken ass combos.
My three Mesmeric Orb decks include "Gaea Welders"-just imagine the fun...Gaea Welders!, "Monoblack Orb Deck" with Nether Shadows, Ashen Ghouls, Skullclamps, Barter in Blood, Beacon of Reanimate/Get Artifact Back and 3 Gaea Blessings, and my Type II "Doesn't Tap to attack Mesmeric Orb Deck"-featuring Serra Angels! (She's Back!) and Early Frost (poor man's Time Walk).
I'm tellin ya folks, Crap Rares make the FUNNEST decks ever!

Negator and Reaver - Do exactly what they should do. Balance - anything but. Isochron Scepter - for being more balanced than it initially appears Chalice of the Void - should have been 1XX IMHO but excellent lateral thinking from Wizards
I totally agree about Mesmeric Orb, that is one of the best casual cards ever!!

Necropotence. The flavor is so very black it's absurd, and the art is ridiculous. 4 Necro Black weenie and 4 Necro Trix were like my favorite decks of all time. Plus it's like the best card ever, how can I not pick it?

No room in the house exceeds a length of twenty-five feet, let alone fifty feet, let alone fifty-six and a half feet, and yet Chad and Daisy's voices are echoing, each call responding with an entirely separate answer. I'm gonna have to go with the blue bombs in a three-way tie.
Fact or Fiction, Intuition, and Future Sight.
Once more undercosted functional equivalents are printed, I'm sure Gifts Ungiven will join that list as well - gotta love the art.

My favorite card is LOA. I love the Arabian Nights tales and the expansion. I really like the cold symmetry by poole and the dimension the painting has. Furthermore, there was actually and LOA which I believe got burned down. Handsdown my favorite card!

There was most certainly a Library of Alexandria. It was founded in the early 3rd century BC by one of the Ptolemic dynasty and was maintained until the late 3rd century AD when it was destroyed in a civil war. It incorporated nearly all Greek literature and also translations into Greek. This library was the library.
