Lost Horizon
{U}
Enchant Land

Lost Horizon can enchant only a nonbasic land.
As Lost Horizon comes into play, choose a basic land type.
Enchanted land's type is the chosen type.
{2}, Sacrifice Lost Horizon: Draw a card.

The mythical city of <city name> is said to lie beyond the setting sun.

The blue component of the set has shaped up to be very concerned with colour and land type. I considered requesting that we reprint Phantasmal Terrain, but instead Matt and I came up with this idea - combined nonbasic land hate with a card that helps out blue's concern for what lands you or your opponent are playing. The flavour text was going to reference Shangri-La, but Matt wanted to avoid real-world mythology. Somebody give me a hand coming up with a good mythical city. I am also concerned that there isn't room for all of the text here. I could go without the sac/draw ability, which would clear up enough room for the other three abilities and hopefully for the flavour text as well.

Did you know that Red is the color or art and music and passion? Combine that with Green, the color of nature, spiritualism, and community and you get a hippie commune of drum circles, dreamcatchers, and recreational drug use. Let's see that win a Pro Tour.

Wouldn't this just let the land tap for that color of mana? I don't think it takes away the nonbasic's abilities.

I ganked the wording from the Invasion Phantasmal Terrain, which I presume does the same thing it always did. (Actually, now that I look, I ganked the oracle/gatherer wording)

I don't like it at U.  It's like a Blood Moon that hits one land, and cycles.  I'd put it at 1U personally.

By the way, awesome flavour text. Wink

Would it remain playable if I were to change the sac/draw ability to "Sacrifice Lost Horizon: each player may draw a card."? If the drawing ability needs to be toned down or removed for this to keep the {U} mana cost, I'd rather do that than increase the cost. On the other hand, Matt has suggested that it's basically unplayable just as nonbasic hate.

I changed the card-drawing ability and I selected a name for the mythical city. Shal-Rigan is an anagram of Shangri-La.
